Rev Sharpe practice
« on: January 17, 2011, 03:23:25 PM »
I'm having a game of Sharp practice this week Rev French Vs Austrians. But as we have a third player who wants to try it out I thought about adding in my Paris mob. Either as an enthusiastic bunch of citizens or maybe Vendeans. They are mainly armed with pikes / farm implements. I know Sharp has some rules for mobs and boarding pikes and I have some ideas in the back of my head. But has anybody else played with these types of irregular forces. If so any suggestions?

We have used peasant rabble in a couple of games. Treating them as Wallahs worked fine though we found they were more fearsome in groups of 12-16 figures.

Biggest issue was lack of ranged firepower as they tended to get shot apart long before they threatened any body. To counteract this we allow them to go back into blinds whenever they entered a piece of large terrain.
