First Carlist War game
« on: January 27, 2011, 02:19:31 PM »
My good chum Dave has for some time been trying to persuade me to play a First
Carlist War game with my fledgling collection, I had been putting this off has I
did not think that Black Powder rules would work with only one brigade a side,
however I finally relented. I am pleased to say that the game went really well
and lasted for about 11/2 hours, we played with ranges etc at 66% on a 4 x 4
table, the Carlist force consisted of four standard size battalions a 6pdr gun
and a small cavalry unit, the Isabelino's four standard size battalions a Royal
Marine rocket battery and a small cavalry unit. Both sides had a brigade
commander but no CinC.

Pictures from the game are on my blog

Great brush work and overall feel  8)  :D and I'm glad to hear that the smaller games work just aswell (it means I don't have to paint those 16 battalions for AWI any time soon  ;D )

Didn´t the Carlists win? Great set up, I love your painting. How many miniatures did you field for one side? I always thought about playing the 1.CW, and you are pushing me closer to it!

For this game only 4 battalions of 16 each and 1 cavalry unit each of 4. When I have completed the project there will be 8 battalions of 20 figs per side and 1 unit of 8 cavalry per side but I will add more cavalry at some point.

If in doubt, blame the snow. ;)

Great collection and an amazing table. Very nice indeed.
