USCR Factory Table Painted (MERCs)
« on: February 08, 2011, 10:26:36 PM »
As the last thread was more than a little bit Pic-Heavy I figured I'd start a new one for the painted shots of my factory buildings.

Here's my painted buildings!

All-told about 2.5hrs to paint it all. Decided just to use Painters Touch sprays instead of my airbrush with a little masking and dryrbrushing and painting afterwards to do the signs, rust and techy-bits.

All the buildings still need posters and grafitti but that will have to wait a bit until I discover either some appropriate MERCs stuff or I can find where I put the file with the AT43 Red Blok posters. LOL

Enjoy!

Factory Building

Supply and Food Storage Sheds

Rain Shelter

Security Shed

Parking Shelter

Jersey Barriers

This should be enough to get me MERCs Gaming! I still want to add more little details like broken glass and the grafitti, but that will wait for another day. :)

I like these - neat builds, nice painting, and excellent for gaming (removable roofs, etc.). I also like the use of the GW gubbins for detailing - I'll be doing the same for my near-future stuff when I get around to building it - in the near future!

Looking good, congrats.
The painting seems very straight forward and works very well. I'm sure that when you add the detail it will look great!

For building them I assume you used that kind of double layer cardboard with foam inside (cant remember the proper name).
But how about the surface of the buildings (the brick texture), is that some sort of plasticard sheet?

Cheers
A.

They're actually a kit of five factory out buildings by Precision Model Design. The Jersey Barriers are by Armourcast. :)

Ian over at Fenris Games does a nice range of jersey barriers as well, nice quick PJ's on those buildings, someone got an excess of GW plastic then? .... ;)

Any chance of some Merc minis (or other 28s) alongside the buildings for scale purposes? The factory and associated bits on the Reaper site are looking very tempting!

Can-do at the end of the week. I'm on the road until then. :)

Always room for gubbniz in the bit box. :D

I've got two refinery pieces and a shed left to paint from these guys (the shed looks like a big picnic shelter with crates stacked in it). More to come!

Looking good. I really like your colour choices.
I think you should stencil your lettering though, it looks a lot better than the free hand, much more to scale.. Looking forward to seeing the weathering.

Stenciling was not speed effficient at that point. When I can get some poster-work done I will have some more appropriate lettering on there. :)
