Oh lordy the American Gothic mushrooms are perfect. What a magnificent bit of happenstance!

I was pleased to find the little Mushroom Guys. I had forgotten about them. They are probably five or six years old; I used round tooth picks rather than floral wire as the core which I haven't done in about that amount of time.
Thanks for the reply, Fram. I am happy you like them.

The big mushroom took forever to get the transition from purple to crimson right.

It was REALLY worth it, my friend!

Re: The Last Hurrah Project: 11/20/21 Swamp Stuff

SO my latest obsession/project is making swamp stuff. Beyond the trees dripping Spanish moss, reeds. & other swampy flora & fauna, I am thinking of dilapidate structures perched on hummocks, connecting boardwalks, maybe a partially sunken tower or two jutting out of the muck, & things like that.
I had a building that I had made & primed a few years ago. I started adding some color on Thursday:

Every building needs some bloodshot eye peering out of a rat hole:

It's blurry, but this gives s general idea of the back of the place:

& the side:

Yesterday I finished the plaster/brick, dry brushed the roof, did the metalwork, AND added  faces & curtains to the faces & curtains to the window...photos forthcoming.

Will these fit in the with your previous Islands of Langerhans boards?  ???

Thanks, Dinos. I am happy you like them. Doing building predates my involvement with miniatures. Mordheim started me doing the buildings as ruins or dilapidated buildings. As a dilapidated guy I can identify with the things I make.

The new things are a replacement for the old boards. Except for the photo stages & Compo Heep's place, all the boards were left with Neighbor Hollie. She wanted them & I was pretty sure that they wouldn't survive the move North. Leaving them gives me the freedom to make yet more pieces.

Ooh, cool to see you doing more buildings! Love the colors and textures, and the dock is weathered/aged beautifully!

I wondered if you had left all your buildings behind. Sad that we won't see them anymore, but it will be exciting to watch you build another strange town from the ground up!

Wonderful work, Al!

I was happy the boards found a home before I had to move. Doing a new approach to the Witches' swamp & surroundings will be fun...I hope. I am glad you like the begins. Thanks for the reply, Bret.

Quite a few of the old cast of characters will be making appearances in the new scenery. It will be another chance to get creative in a familiar setting...that's my story & I am sticking to it.

Things have been coming along; i.e., the swamp house has gotten a bit more colorful & decidedly stranger:

There are now W.I.P. faces & drapes in the windows:

The Snow White Recreational Potion Gang is now based, converted, & ready for some color:

With some Spook Shields:

AND another Troll & Bat Girl (succubus):

Until whenever.

I have been so busy last few days, and you put out so much of your classic work

Great lift after a number of frustrating days/nights working.

That house is starting to look very crowded.

All the eyes makes you wonder what the houses are built with and on, that has so many eyes!

What vast bulk lies beneath, watching what goes on above.

Thanks for the kind reply, Tactavanic. I am delighted you got a boost from the stuff.
I do try to make pieces that tell the viewer stories, different stories for different viewers. I think I may have succeeded with you.

Turns out it's not a swamp, it's a small lake... it's just very crowded.
