Ah. Body snatcher.  One very well done creepy horror movie.  Suddenly I feel a need for flamethrower.
Nicely done.

There were actually four versions of the novel that made it into films. They were all super creepy.
Thanks for the reply, syrinx. I am glad you liked it. I finished the second one last night; pics are forthcoming.

The second of the two pod thingies was finished last night:

Now I'll head for the hills...in miniature.

Blaringly loud in shape and colour! I mean this in the most praiseworthy sense.  lol

Ain't it the truth though!
Thanks for the reply, Fram. Garish colors add that certain something to basically disturbing creations.

Enthused by completing the Pod Thingies, I started working on the hills.
I have one ready for the DAS treatment:

AND one all set for some detailing & paint:

These are coming along much more quickly than I would have imagined. While I thought these would be the last of the pieces for the Night Goblin cavern board, there are now plans to add stalactite/stalagmite columns into the mix.
More pics as things develop...whenever that is.

Actually I only remember the first, 1956, version. It did leave an impression that the others lacked.

the original is great, as is the 70's remake. The 90's one is pretty decent and it's own thing with the initial foothold changed to an army base.

The Nichole Kidman one is shit.

The pod thingies with their bold colors and alien shapes are out of this world!
As for the Hills, something great is brewing...  ;D

Thanks, Dinos. I’m glad you enjoyed the pods. The hills are progressing nicely. Unfortunately my PC is not working; so no new pics for a while.

There's also an old full-episode SCTV parody version where the pods are cabbages and the possessed are indicated by a cabbage leaf coming up out of the back of their collars!  lol

I think that one would have been my favorite if I ever had the chance to catch it.
I wondered if that is the basis for Turnip 28.

Those pods are excellent! They might be some of my favorites of your creations thus far, and the colors are great!

Also I'm curious about using DAS modeling clay to cover the hills- do you just lump it on there (is "lump" a verb? If not, apologies to the traditionalist linguist community) or can you water it down and "paint" it on somehow? When it dries out do you fined they are brittle or does the foam and aluminum structure beneath the clay keep it from chipping or cracking?

Thanks!
I have a YouTube and so can you!

Thanks fpr the kind reply, Frugalmax! I am delighted you like the pods.

Lump could be a verb. I coat the surface I am going to put the DAS on with Mod Podge (other white glues might work as well); then i put down a sheet of DAS (lumps in spot the sheets don't cover. Then brush on a Mod Podge coat to smooth & strengthen the DAS. Then I sculpt the clay & apply another coat of Mod Podge. I have been using a mix of black, Mod Podge, & water as the base coat followed by a white dry brush when dry. I hope that makes sense & answers your question max.
