Thanks for the kind comments, Jevenkah & Mason!

:-* Awesome! I love the look! I can picture oily, bubbly goo smoldering on that insulation foam. Are there closer pictures of that face-in-the-rock on the left? And are those burning faggots everywhere? I just love seeing all these fantastical details.

Can't wait for more pics!

Jevenkah

I'm hoping to get an effect similar to the New Jersey Swamp close to the Holland Tunnel...an area that nuclear contamination would improve.

Is this the Rock Face you wanted to see?

The purple thingies are candles. One of my Wicca Witchy friends said the color of the candles doesn't really matter, but purple is sexy.

Oh, Yes!

This is certainly going to look the business when complete.
A wonderful, natural progression to link all those lovely, characterful islands together.

Get to it, man.
Get to it!
 :D

(You may have noticed that I am a little enthused by this.... ;))

Enthusiasm is REALLY appreciated...it's catching. I'm about ready for the first spray; then some washes.

Yes, that was the Face. It's even better from the other side, with that huge eye bulging out!

I'm hoping to get an effect similar to the New Jersey Swamp close to the Holland Tunnel...an area that nuclear contamination would improve.

Great minds again! I grew up in South Jersey, right on the Delaware, but had lots of family up North. I'm sure I had a half-memory in mind when I pictured that.

WOW! Thanks for all the kind comments. I hope I can live up them all.

When I was a boy, The New Jersey Swamp was a high point in the annual trip from Long Island to my Aunt Skeets & Uncle Lenny in Hackett's Town. There was something about the strangely colored water(?) & the distinct aroma that appealed to me...I was a bizarre child.
My folks & Aunt Skeets & Uncle Lenny all retired to Whiting NJ...near Tom's River & Seaside Heights. Visiting my Mom every week or so after my Dad passed away gave me a bit of feeling for the Garden State.

Its always nice to see your lovely terrain pieces set up together Deafnala.

Thanks again, aggro! The nice dense foam boards opens up a new World of gaming/display boards.
I'll be gluing down some of the smaller islets today & distressing the balsa/bass wood for the walkways.

Keep it coming - your stuff reminds me of 80s Henson films.

Being included in a sentence with Jim Henson is a real boost to my self esteem. Fortunately, humility is one of my qualities that I'm most proud of.

Looking good.  :D

Thanks, Engel. I'll try to keep posting thing to draw you back to the thread.

As I was plodding oh-so-slowly along with the Swamp Board, a strange Beasty emerged from my psyche...he was subsisting on a diet of dust bunnies. SO to keep the thread from disappearing all together, allow me to present the latest of my creatures, Loathsome George the Gooky Monster:

George will be haunting the toxic waters off Crazy Mary's Cay:

As always your kind commentaries would be appreciated...offer to desist will be considered.

That looks pretty cool and will fit perfectly into the world that you have created.

Now that you mention it, there is a resemblance The Trash Compactor would be considered a move up in the housing/social strata.

As the intro say, I've made a bit of progress on The Isles of Langerhans Board. There's still a lot to do...at least from my lazy point of view, but be that as it may, here's where we stand now:

An Overview:

I found this Oh-So-Cool Twig down near Pecan Creek; I'll try to get a better shot next time...it has all sorts of little holes & such. That aside it's now a dead tree connecting Oozy Suzy's Rock with Crazy Mary's Cay:

The walkways & ladders between Crazy Mary's & The Stoned Hedge Isle:

...with the Many Eyed Tree of Ogling:

AND the Dead Fall Bidge from Frag's Sacred Rock Bar & Grill to Stoned Hedge Isle:

Now that I'm coming up to speed (for a Feeble Old Man that is) progress reports should come more frequently...or not. In the meantime your kind commentary would be most appreciated...mostly.

Great stuff, Amigo!

Love the way the place is coming together.
All those walkways are relly cool and the 'Twig from the Creek' is perfect.
 :-* :-* :-*

This is really going to be a wonder to behold when you have finished.

:-* well done DeafNala, that play surface looks so amazing all together like that. All the fantastic detail and intrigue you have built into it makes for a very interesting and fun space.  8)

I like the swamp. If the islands are fixed, will you put in more floating debri, alligators and the like?

Thanks MUCHO for all the kind comments, Guys...you've made my day!

...and the 'Twig from the Creek' is perfect.

There has been some question as to the sanity of someone who gets excited about a water logger twig...sanity is highly overrated.

If the islands are fixed, will you put in more floating debri, alligators and the like?

Along with more walkways & beds of reeds/marsh grass there will be lots of floating thingies & beasties...reasons to avoid a dip.

Lovly all around but those pictures of the dark murky bridge is awesome.  :-*

The bridge is balsa planking over two interesting twigs. I rather like the effect myself...I'm glad you agree.

Egads! That is beautiful.

Thanks, von Lucky!
