Thanks for all the kind replies, Guys!

Blimey DeafNala, that's unsettling!!!!! *cold chill*

A fantastic build. Even better than I imagined. All the freaks in Windows are full of character. I do like the spyglass, and the slime oozing out the boarded up window! :)

Cheers
Matt

It is kind of creepy, but in a silly sort of way. At any rate, I'm delighted you liked the pieces & took the time to say so.

The Shanty Town is absolutely wonderful!  Richard

Thanks, Richard. Hopefully I'll have some photos of how the whole board looks by tomorrow or over the weekend. I have some ladders & stuff to add to finish it off...for the moment.

Did that slug just say hello? ;)

I think it was "'allo"...my friend floedebolle thinks the worm looks like the caterpillar who hangs out at the entrance to the labyrinth in the movie Labyrinth.

Oh my god, those windows are all ridiculously cool!  :-* :-* :-*

I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeNala

You are really carving out a signature style with this project.  The window ideas are wonderful.  I love this thread.

I don't think he has neighbours!

Great work as ever, though the style is consistent, I think you can see that your skill has improved through the course of this project.
Love it,
Duncan

Thanks for all the GREAT replies, Guys...that is a FINE way to start the day!

Oh my god, those windows are all ridiculously cool!  :-* :-* :-*

I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeNala

The windows were the fun part of the building. The tentacle pushing its way through the boarded up window was the start of the details on Spook's Place. The Faces reacting in horror to its emergence were next. The rest just flowed from that...I have a tendency to get carried away with things

I like the take off on the Sunset Strip quote. One of the Guys on Tom's dubbed the worm Pizza Hutt...a take off on Jabba of Star Wars fame. I guess the piece is cinematis in its fashion.

You are really carving out a signature style with this project.  The window ideas are wonderful.  I love this thread.

I am delighted you're enjoying The Project.
I'm not particularly good at copying other Folks; SO developing a style, such as it is, ogf my own was the way to go for moi.

Thanks, Paul!
Tom, next door, is about it as far as neighborhood contacts go...he's pretty strange also.

I don't think he has neighbours!

Thanks, Duncan...see the above for neighbor status.
I also can see an improvement. The earlier Mushrooms were larger & at least a bit cruder than the new ones...they were my first real G.S. pieces. Of the older thingies, I think the Sump Man is about the best; & he was a plumber's epoxy creature.

I finally figured out, with the assistance of Neighbor Tom, the latest idiosyncrasy of The Camera of Continual Contrariness. The following long view photos are the result:

With some flapping of wings & riding the thermals, the buzzard approaches The Shanty Town & The Isles:

Circling the Town:

The next batch of photos will show some of the details of The Shanty Town...possible with a proper name. In the interim your kind comments would be most welcome...for the most part.

That really looks like a proper town now that it's all built up.

What a wonderful board.

Thanks for the kind replies, Guys! You've made my day.

The next boards will be a Graveyard adjoining The Shanty Town & some open water with a tower & the smugglers' boats by the Isles...unless I get distracted...again. There's also the matter of populating the place...Bold Adventurers along with the Locals.

Thanks, Funghy...glad you like it!
I left the second tenement, Downtown Shabby, removable for gaming & photo accessibility. Even if it's only solo, I do hope to do some games with all the terrain.

Wow! So much progress since I last logged on ... it's looking FANTASTIC, DeafNala! :o

Earlier posts didn't really illustrate the magnitude of the project, but now seeing the boards, complete with walkways and funky water ... it's a hell of a job. Love all the quirky details, and the faerie wings look delightfully frail despite the boldness of the rest of their bodies.

I, too, noticed the mushroom oven - what a perfect fit for your project! And thanks for the link ... I followed it and am now in love with the steam snail! http://armorcast.com/store/images/Snail.jpg

Well done, looking forward to seeing where this goes next :)
