Yes, he is a little on the expensive side ... I hope he's reasonably sized, for that price!

This project is just ultra-beautiful. I love the vibrant colours. It's absolutely fantastic in so many aspects.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Well the guy is a 28mm mini; SO I'd figure the Beasty os maybe 3 1/2" X 3 1/2" with the smoke stack making the rear about a little higher...not awe inspiring, but cool nonetheless.

Thanks, Melnibonean...I'm getting flashy in my Old Age. I appreciate the kind reply...positive feedback is my major motivator.
I hope to add some closeups of the details in the next couple of days...I had to wait for the new wireless billing cycle to start.

DeafNala,

I am currently in your neck of the woods (TX and FL), and I'm seeing your inspiration for your work everywhere. In the theme parks in Orlando there was Harry Potter and the ET rides at Universal (weird and wonderful), to the flora in these states (beatiful yet slightly sinister) that really makes me think of this thread.

Keep it coming - I'm looking forward to what you create in 2014.

Thanks von Lucky! I must admit never making it to Florida, but Texas has some of the spookiest trees imaginable...considering my imagination, that's saying something.

If you get to the Austin area, you'll have to drop by.

I absolutely love the cramped feel of all the oozing denizens living right on top of each other! Reminds me of my ancestral tenement in North Jersey.

It's so creative and one's eye is drawn from one oddity to the next in such a pleasing (or freaky) manner!

Awesome work!

Thanks for the kind word, Jevenkah! I'm delighted you are enjoying my little creations.

A couple of the boards made a tour of shops in Austin on New Year's Eve. They got quite a nice reaction at the modeling store. The minis/gaming/comis book store, Dragon's Lair, was interested in seeing them at all...who can figure?

I have a few tenement memories from various places also...mostly fond ones.

Dangit, for a second I thought there was an update!  lol

Sorry about that, Fram. An update is overdue. I've been procrastinating about taking closeups of the Shanty Town & adding the last few details. With the latest shot of motivation, I try to get up some pic over the next couple of days.

Well having just now snapped out of a bit of a creative slump, I've started finishing the details on The Shanty Town. I'll post photos as I go along to keep from being overwhelmed. SO...

...here's a couple of views of Mid Way & High Street:

The sign at the Hole In The Wall:

The Under Way:

AND some of the residents by The Tree of Wohoo (the next board over will be a Graveyard & Goblin building materials cache):

Today I will be adding some candles & maybe a few more mushrooms; photos will be forthcoming. In the meanwhile your kind comment & critiques would be a welcome source of motivation.

There we go! Glad to see everything's on the way. The wood and textures are really beautiful close up :D

I think for suggestions, the area shown in your first & second photos could use just a dash more personality. Not a lot, or else gamplay would be impeded, but perhaps some debris in a crook between buildings, or maybe some odd fetishes or trinkets (small stuff) nailed or tied to the support beams or the front of a house?

Or another idea would be anything to distinguish the shacks from the front - how would the residents mark their dwellings? Crude numbers or nameplates? Little pictures or ornaments? A "No peddlars" sign on someone's door?

Whatever you do, have fun with it!

A sign for Mid Way would be good too (or maybe there is one and I just missed it?).

EDIT: Holy Christmas, this thread's 100 pages now!  :o

All the details look great, but those mushrooms in the graveyard caught my eye.
Very nice indeed!
