Yes, poor old vanished Mungo.

He who inspired John Barrow to send more than a few Royal Navy boys (poor sods who were desperate for promotion, not all of whome were entirely sane) to the middle of the desert, on that wonderful early-Victorian logic that equated deserts with oceans. Of course most of the Niger river is in festering jungles and swampland rather than desert, but very little of the thinking behind early Victorian exploration bears much close scrutiny anyway.  lol

Thanks for the push to check up on the misguided adventures of Mungo. For a species that touts its supposed intelligence, humans never cease to display an amazing streak of the purest stupidity. This works well with our natural tendency towards self destruction.

It was a mental association I just couldn't avoid - not too many bodies go by 'Mungo'!

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

Alex Karras' character in Blazing Saddles was my only association..."Mongo only pawn in game of life." It's just one of those names that doesn't seem to catch on; sad, since it rolls of the tongue so beautifully....then crashes to the ground with a clatter like a manhole cover.

It's been another Saturday Night at Heep's. Mungo, Bob the Blue Ox, & Spook the Wonder Talking Skull are homeward bound:

As designated driver, Bob gets a closeup:

A Mysterious Lady appears by Heep's Bat Poop Cave of Unimaginable Aroma:

While actual gaming on the various boards may or may not actually happen, the photo stage & story telling possibilities are attractive...at least for moi.
Your kind comment, as always, would be most welcome...mostly.

Thanks, Fram...glad you like them. I've discovered that there are a LOT of painted pieces I have yet to photograph; SO there may be quite a few more such photos...consider yourself warned.

Lovely pics as always Deafnala!
I was wondering last time I saw the fellow, my apologies if you explained this earlier, but is the Blue Ox a Paul Bunyan reference?

Love the Mysterious Lady. What could she possibly be hiding in that jar?
Hurray!!! We may be getting a large batch of pictures from DeafNela. I can think of very few things I'd rather see. Bring it on.

Thanks, aggro! I treated The Camera to new batteries; SO she decided to be cooperative...mostly.
The Mungo & Associates piece is Paul Bunyan inspired with names changed to protect the innocent, and a touch of Blazing Saddles for pure silliness sake.

Thanks, Michka!
There are things Man was not meant to know...glad you like her.

I hope to have some more photos up before the weekend. I'm sorting out the Egg Carton Denizens (I store my completed & ready to paint stuff in egg cartons) for photos. The problem with this is discovering pieces I'd forgotten about slows the process down. I can see going through Capt. John's display case for minis & some refurbishing as a monumental undertaking.

Thanks, Diakon. The Boards are proving to be fun beyond their making. There are a lot of possibilities. Plus the addition of smaller add on expansion boards will provide even more photo spots & demand more miniature inhabitants. This is the kind of never ending project I cam get into.

I got to admit that the mystery part of the Mysterious Lady was I couldn't come up with a name on the spur of the moment.

Monumental undertakings can be fun. I think the boards you've already finished count as a monumental accomplishment. You've already proven you're up to the task.
