NIce job on the terrain pillars.  I would not have thought to do the 2 color "stripes", it looks great.  But I absolutely adore those little gobbos with the telescope.

Thanks MUCHO for the reply, Dommsdave! I got the idea for the stripes from the Badlands/Painted Desert. Usually I do three colors to the strips, but Dr. J has more subdued tastes than moi...at least as far as colors go.

I'm delighted you like the Goblins...Goblins are my favorite Fantasy & Folk Lore Folk. The ones in the photo are in the howdah of Lulu the Land Waster, a converted plastic Rhino of substantial size. You can see more photos here:

http://s762.photobucket.com/user/DeafNala/library/WHFB/Lulu%20-%20The%20Land%20Waster?sort=3&page=1

My friend, Edwin, took the photos AND the mini is now in his collection. He mentioned anything he could eat; he could keep.

The prospect was too scary to think about. SO I told him to consider Lulu as permanently on loan.

The latest addition to Dr. J's Desert World are done, AND here is the disturbing evidence:

The next part will be Man(?) Made Thingies: intact & ruined buildings, storage  tanks, & such. Until then your comments & critiques would be most welcome...mostly.

Thanks, Michka...glad you like the Guys. I like The Lord of the Mushrooms; it has a nice ring to it. Funny thing I also had a Tolkien moment; only I pictured Tom Bombadil...now there was a poster Guy for the '60s: "tune in,turn on, drop out".

Well, there is always Mr. Tim Benzedrine from the novel "Bored of the Rings"... And yes, he he finances his Needs by selling sandals and cheap jewelry. I've just read the German Translation but that is funny as hell. Tim and his Old Lady Hashberry are real dropouts.

Thanks, LordOdo! I'm glad you like them. The shininess is only a photographic thing perpetrated by that Evil Camera.

Thanks, Paul...your Southwestern terrain is BEAUTIFUL. I actually had to rein in my natural tendency to get carried away with things; re, Dr.J. is fairly conservative as far as terrain goes. As such, I had constraints on the footprint of each piece. This is only fueling the madness I will unleash on my next Project pieces.

Thanks, Doomhippe. I read & loved Bored with the Rings many years ago. The Benzadrines were such perfect parodies of the Bombadils. All the take offs on the names made the book for moi. The Lampoon's The Odd Father, a spoof of on The Godfather, is worth a read, if you can find a translation.

The parody of Dune, Doon, was pretty damn funny too.
So I have to ask, and don't take this the wrong way, but what's with the grey rocks in the middle of all those earth tones rocks?
I mean they are cool (and now I want to make some Planet Hell terrain for my Classic Star Trek project) but are they supposed to go with the others?

I hadn't heard of Doon...actually I never read any of the Dune novels either. Thanks for the tip; I'll have to see if I can get a copy.

No offense taken. The blue grey stones are supposed to be a limestone style rock...I'm finishing up four smaller formations. Their color & the angular, shard like shape are supposed to be a break from the reddish & golden browns; AND denote a different mineral deposit. I'm sure Dr. J will keep them separate from the others; they were only grouped together for the photo.

...AND the last of The Rocks:

Next on the agenda will be ruins, debris, make-shift shelter & barricades. THEN back to my own silliness...OH BABY!

Thanks, Constable B.! I was trying for a shard like look. I'm thinking of doing similar pieces for my underground/under-graveyard board(s).

124 pages. Wow.  :o

Too many for me to go through them all but i looked at some of the early Red Brotherhood pages and the more recent ones. Some great minis and excellent terrain. Kudos. :)

BTW - why the 'Last Hurrah Project'?

Thanks for the reply, leonmllett. I would agree that going through the entire thread would be a really daunting prospect. I never imagined it would get SO long.
As to the "Last Hurrah" part, I figure I have one good project left in me...considering my age & general health. SO I'm dedicating what I have left to those aspects of Fantasy, Horror, & Cartoons that I have come to love. This is my Swan Song of sorts...although not in a morbid way.
