Scarborough 25-26 June
« on: February 09, 2011, 10:13:18 PM »
A new show in a huge venue as part of the local armed forces/Help for Heroes weekend.

The venue is Scarborough Spa, and there is a Napoleonic theme to the show this year with a Guinness World Record bid.
Any clubs (or individuals) keen on Napoleonics are welcome - the current plan is to stage all the major battles of the Peninsular War in 28mm, but there are other games too, and trade stands, plus seaside icecreams, sand, candyfloss, and dinosaur footprints (in the cliff face about 100 yards from the venue - if you want to see them we'll guide you there).
The local council has negotiated a discount rate for dinner bed & breakfast for any long distance show-goers.

Don't do it! He's going to push you off that cliff!

No worry Hammers - they are at the base of the cliff, so we'll just stand you on a path where the sea will wash you away....

Im trying to sort out traders for the show but I know we will be updating the site as soon as we can with details of the various games that will be at the show.
Certainly I am aware of proposals for several fantasy and sci-fi type games.Warlord are talking about running an ECW game as well as trading,Mantic are talking about showcasing their fantasy figures in a game.I have heard that we are having an ECW/vampire crossover participation game which sounds very intriguing.
My club (Loughton Strike Force) are bringing at least 2 games one of which will probably be a 15mm Alamo participation.
Its a bit early to state with any confidence though exactly what games will be there-clubs havent made up their minds yet.
Quite a few clubs who were very keen to help initially have dropped out following what seems to be internal musical differences which is a shame.
Anyone who fancies a weekend by the sea-and it is RIGHT by the sea and who wants to put on a game please do get in touch.
Traders and gamers get a very good discounted deal at the Grand Hotel for the Friday and Saturday nights to help with accomodation costs and a few are bringing wives/girlfriends/kids as a result

The site now has 14 games listed and only 5 are Napoleonic, plus 17 traders.
I've heard rumours of another half dozen games, and a few more traders too.
One of the traders that is really worth a look is the Craft Lights company, they do daylight lamps on stands designed for embroidery, but perfect for painting - we have one that is wonderful. Some have built in magnifiers, and they have a really good selection.(Met them at an embroidery show earlier this year).

Not a bad start for a first show.
The ECW Vampire fantasy looks intriguing.

Depending on where your trade stand is, that could be a short journey :~}

All

Up to 20 traders now plus some additional games.

Hope as many of you as possible will support this new show.

If it can be moderately successful in its inaugral year then we have ambitious plans to expand it in to something that will be potentially quite spectacular.

For gamers in the north of England, it's worth noting that Boyes department store are supporting the show by running a special offer on Vallejo paints that weekend. Might only apply to the Scarborough shop, but worth checking your local branch to find out (they are supposed to be stocking Vallejo in all 41 stores). To be fair they are only £1.75 or £1.50 a jar now (depending on range) so it will be interesting to see wht they offer as a special deal.
