German Schutztruppe - East Africa
« on: February 10, 2011, 06:18:09 PM »
I finished up the last batch of German Schutztruppe (that I currently have):

Here is the complete (for now..) force:

4 Feldkompagnie (or Zug… or Squads… depending on what scale I’m playing at…) of Schutztruppe, a unit of German Sailors (they have an MG detachment which I totally forgot to put in this picture...), and assorted local volunteers, porters, and “Ruga-Ruga”. Okay, honestly, the latter three (local volunteers, porters, and “Ruga-Ruga”) are kind of generic and could be used by anyone and I just plunked in here (because they COULD be used by the Germans) to make the force look a little more substantial…

Next I'll finish up the Kings African Rifles...

Great paintjobs and a delightfully large force.  However, I'm a little perplexed about their scale.  The minis in the top pic have a definite 15mm look to them.  In the bottom pic, however, it's apparent that they're 28mm (I think).  Where are these minis from?

If I recall from his blog, Tim sometimes makes his own figures. Puts my Schutztruppe force to shame. It isn't even half that size. I find them a little boring, though from a painting perspective, and so they always get passed over for more interesting stuff.

Thanks!

As Plynkes suggested, the Askaris and some of the Germans are of my own making (modeled, moulded, cast by me). They are all 28mm.

Woof - wish I could do that!  Great work.

A really nice painting and a nice force.

I see you make your units at the size of 15.
Mine are also 14/15 depending on the available models at the time.

I do not see: any german NCO and a unit of white soldiers. I made one with colonial troops, just an excuse to use brigade models white soldiers/marines.

sorry for the mistake I meant: brigade games models.

Unfortunately I do not own any of the excellent "brigade models" models. their belgians seem very nice!
