Real Wizards Use Swords

Real Wizards do you swords (poisoned ones prefered):

When I was younger and D&D was very young(in the early 1970's)  there was a very strong discussion on rather or not wizards could use swords.  The guys at TSR said NO, others said yes, me included, if it was magic (ie the Gandlalf the Grey argument) a few even said what ever, its just  a sharp crowbar after all.  It lead to endless fun arguments and adventures.  Since then I have had a tendency to choose wizards with swords of any type and this guy was one of my favorites.

I agree.
Gandalf the Grey had Glamdring.
Harry Potter used the sword of Gryffindor.
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Plus in D&D there are plenty of spell effects which duplicate, or take the form of swords. I always found that it was pretty absurd that a wizard (or anyone for that matter) couldn't pick up a sword and use it, or at least learn some basic skills. Definitely a classist society  ;D

EDIT

Sorry I forgot to say nice model. Also interesting colour scheme, a pink wizard, reminds me of a joke...

Nicely painted figure.

I think the basic D&D thing was more to do with game balance - thats why the elf class topped out in levels with their combined magic-user/fighter abilities!

A sword is only a big knife!  Nice figure.

SORCERERS WITH SWORDS RULE...more or less! There used to be a mini either by Citadel or Ral Partha of a Wizard with a sword that had the inscription "dagger".
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx
