Heroclix doing nextwave!
« on: February 13, 2011, 08:14:28 PM »
I'd heard rumours, but it looks like they're true: heroclix are going to do Nextwave (several years after the series got cancelled, and at least two years after I last thought about how much I'd like to do Nextwave in miniature)

*crosses fingers and prays they're better sculpts than most heroclix*

first preview: http://heroclix.com/blog/2011/02/11/his-name-is-the-captain/

All I need is some Mindless Ones and some Doombot heads...

Finally! I'm actually hoping for a boxed set ala BPRD, so I only have to buy the one thing, I imagine these may be scarce on the 2nd hand market.

They are all in the regular boosters.  There was a poster up on HCRealms that spoiled the whole set.  I can't find it now, but it looks like most of the characters are there.  I think Dirk Anger and Machine Man were missing, but there already is a Machine Man that came out.

Here: http://www.heroclixworld.com/HCW/Articles.aspx?ID=260 has the poster, complete with machine man (although he's not as cool as the unique one that got made for some tourney a couple years back by the chap that's chums with Brian Dugas whose name I forget).

Out early march, I believe... (I bet the Captain's a super rare too, meaning I don't get one... gonna need at least a dozen mindless ones though...)

Wow, there's nothing in that set I want except for the Next Wave stuff, that blows.

I know what you mean, there's an awful lot of fairly interchangeable sculpts in pink and white that I wouldn't have much use for, even as repainting fodder...

I forgot Machine Man was Aaron Stack.  Thanks for posting the link.  That's a much better one than the first poster I saw up.

There will also be Sentinals and a few other big figures in what they are calling Super Boosters with this set.

Or the sculpts, sadly, judging by comparisons between the previews that have appeared on the site and the digital renders that are used on the poster. Sad news at work today, I can't stock them (and therefore can't get staff discount...)

90% sure I can get them in, just really wondering if I want to.

More previews are up: http://heroclix.com/blog/2011/02/16/women-of-h-a-t-e/

The sculpts aren't as glossy as the digital renders, but still look rather nice (he says through rose-tinted nextwave glasses...)
