Recommendartions solicted for good 20mm ranges
« on: March 05, 2011, 08:31:51 PM »
My nephew has decided to move on to WW2. He thought of 28mm but I suggested he goes for 20mm (when I did WW2 originally, back in 1970 that was the only choice, if we can stretch a point and include Airfix, Matcvhbox etc as 20mm).

So, he asked me to recommend some ranges. He says quality is more important than cost (he works for a bank...!). I'm totally out of touch with the subject so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Doug

I have mostly Britannia as I just loved the character of the late Dave Howitt's work.

However, if I were to start from scratch then AB would be the first point of call.

I haven't seen them in the lead but I always thought Battlefield Miniatures looked quite good. Their older ranges are here.

FAA are excellent - have been difficult to get hold of for a few years, but rumour has it that the line has been sold on and will be available again very soon.

If he wants to go down the plastic route check out the following website - It is a review of 1/72nd etc and rates each of the offerings available and compares sizes.  A good source for all figures at this scale

I forgot the rather uninspiring 20mm range from Wargames Foundry as well.

May I also recommend visiting The Guild...

www.guildwargamers.com

The forum is pretty much 90% 20mm and we have many manufacturers on the forum as well as hobbyists, and also 'living' catalogues of figure ranges.

I run the forum with Matt from Elhiem Figures.

Thanks - the Guild was also recommended to me on TMP (maybe that as you as well?). I'll pass that link on.

Lancashire Miniatures has some great 20mm WWII packs with alot of variety;
