Frank and me have a vendetta about building the best Tabel of the show .
Last Year Frank beat me with his fantastic medieval north germany piret table .
Look her at
Störtebeker - Gottes Freund und aller Welt Feind
http://hamburger-tactica.hq-cooperation.de/pages/fotos2007.html

But these time I try to beat him with a Lost World Table.
The Tabel will have all the good stuff like Jungle ,Temple Ruins, Dinos, Adventures .........and some special things I show you later ; )

But to win I have to stard now ,
My first Figures will (ok I have a lot LW stuff reday) be a party of Lizzardmen and two Salamander figures .
The Lizzardmen will be player characters  the Salamanders will be one of the menny Beast there .

I will paint them these week but I need some Isperation so let me see your Lizzardmen and how you would paint the salamander.

Also I need your help to bead Frank so let me know your Ideas of a LW table

ALSO I WILL MEED SOME OF YOU GUYS AT THE TACTICA !!!!!

cheers Grimm

Grimm, to be honest, I don't like the idea with the GW Lizardmen, they look too-Warhammer-like and I'm sure a table with GW minis wouldnt look like  an exceptional Lost World table but rather like usual WHFB one. Did you see the painted Reaper-Frogmen from tbroadwater. Why not these?

I guess if you won't go for maya ruins it wouldn't be a GW table regardless of the skinks (Angkor would be an alternative if going for ruins). Perhaps you should convert their equipment, give them boomerangs, forked spears, Zwillen (however these are called in english;) ) or something else than the original blow pipe/throwing spears. Look for Komodons for inspiration.
If you come for the king, you better not miss (Omar)

Go for it Grimm, Use Aztecs for reference, some nice warpaint shields and weapons.

I would replace the blow pipes with obsidian spears and feathered shields :)

Some nice big creatures are the Bob Olley lizard aliens which come with interchangeable arms.

Or go for Kroot even they are some of my favourites

I think the skinks work to, except the weapons which could easily be swapped.

I like skink figures, you can use them as other things apart from skinks, but you may need to do some simple conversions. We use a lot of them for Wargods of Aegyptus as allies/minions of the Sebeki crocodiles. Egyptian is fairly simple - a stripy headress made from miliput (or tissue paper soaked in glue) and Egyptian style shields all round soon changes the look of things.

I suppose you could go "African" and swap the blowpipes for Zulu style shields and knobkerries, have Greater Zimbabwe style ruins.

Mexican would be very colourful, Aztec feathered shields and possibly backbanners would look exotic, you could replace the weapons with obsidian bladed swords or even bolas ?

Angkor Wat ruins would look cool too, but I'm not sure how the figures would look. Maybe you could go further East and look at Vietnam perhaps ? Have two rival factions of lizards - one black skinned, the others more colourful ?

here I go with the first WIP of the figures .
I will make the lizardmen in South Armerica style so I will addit other schilds and feather´s .
Hope I make a unit of 5 today

I also think small round bases and a ``not so candy`` like look will vanish  the GW style .

here a GW one
http://de.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.de?do=Individual&code=99060208065

so what you are thinking ?

Here is that Bob Olley Big one which might be nice as a leader. They can come separate bodies (2 part) with close combat weapons rather than guns

One thing you could do to make them just a bit more South American is to pierce their noses. I'd run a stiff wire through the nose and paint it tan, to make them look like these guys:

South American native architecture was big on stone masonry without mortar. Irregular rocks would be smoothed just enough to fit together seamlessly, but without the rows we're used to seeing in Western architcture.

It's easy enough to simulate on the table. You simply inscribe the joint detail with a ballpoint pen onto foamcore or insulation foam.

I think small details like this will do a great deal to give it that Lost Civilization feel.
