I have a Groo that I plan on painting up as a fantasy army. No other minis, just Groo  :D

Only to be destroyed by an army made of a Chuck Norris barbarian miniature!  :)

Very true. So I'll have to make one more fig, Mr. T, to kick Chuck's @ss :)

Update: I received the Red Box figures. At 28mm, they are a lot smaller than my Reaper and Rackham figures, so I'm not sure if I'm going to integrate them into the project. BUT they are still excellent sculpts, that I will still enjoy painting.

Also, I went to my FLGS to see what they had, and I found this relatively new bard who looks like he's rockin' out pretty hard. I'd have liked to get the hafling bard I mentioned earlier, but I also felt I should support my local store, too (they didn't have the hafling, but they had this figure):

Here is the figure I'm using as a sorcerer:

So I'm still looking for a Druid -- I like the Enigma figure -- and a warlock (I decided, after all, to do the core classes from 4th ed.)

I like those Groo figures :)

Here is a Red Box Games figure that I think would make an excellent druid:

I agree with the above posters - you did an excellent job on those figures.

I meant to ask how is the size comparison on this model?

Judging by the pictures I'm guessing thats a standard 25mm base, so it looks to be a 'slight' 28mm, which from what I've seen seems typical of Red Box, more like Hasslefree size 28mm than newer citadel 28mm.

That's crazy... I've been collecting Groo for years. Never even heard of this set! I know they made a large statuette of Groo in a cauldron full of cheese dip or something, but these you could game with!  :-*

I have a Groo that I plan on painting up as a fantasy army. No other minis, just Groo  :D

 lol Perfect!

As far as real suggestions go, there's some good suggestions here. I'll just add that Dark Sword minis have a few very nice bards:

Female Bard
Euron Greyjoy
male Bard in fighting stance

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

Your painting work is stunning. The mini's are gorgeous as well! Excellent work! I personally am in love with D&D though I don't have any rulebooks to hand so can't help you with your queries.

Excellent work, it was a pleasure to read through your thread.

My favorite Bard is from Grenadier in the eighties.

I was going to suggest Iron Wind Metals, but they appear to only have one figure listed as a "bard" at this time:

Ral Partha used to have lots more, but either they didn't make it into IWM's lines, or they're called something besides "bard".

Red Box figures, while beautifully sculpted, tend to be dwarfed by figures such as Reaper's.

And coincidently, Red Box now gave a bard on pre-order!

and one from hasslefree
http://www.hasslefreeminiatures.co.uk/pack.php?pack=1601

I wpiul second commissarmoody with the suggestion of the Hasslefree Bard. It is a lovely clean sculpt and the freedom of the pose allows very easy conversion.
Mine has been converted to wear a GW Empire feathered hat and a scabbarded sword. It was really easy to do and makes for a great expressive figure.

Will try and get a decent picture taken tomorrow.

Ral Partha Europe still do the old Partha bards, like Seamus and Ardal, and the Schwartze Auge line has a number of lovely bards and skalds.
