Doug the Beast
« on: April 11, 2011, 02:49:45 AM »
Doug has not yet seen his mini.  If you look at his avatar, you see that he says: "the mini that never was".  Well, I decided I'd give it my best to make a mini.  I contacted him for permission and have kept him more or less informed as I proceeded.  The painting is to give a general sense of the final version.  I've only really blocked out colours and will go back to it as I can.  I hope you like it, Doug.

I send it where?  10 Downing Street, London?

This is the original:

A new war is about to start under alien suns.

Actually, his keeping me 'informed' probably was a bad idea.  lol

He made the further mistake of actually asking questions, so where the model has 'gone astray' from the original drawing, I probably have to take more blame than he. The colours were a surprise, as I'd never thought about them.

Still, it's a handsome job, a surprisingly generous, and potential dangerous to the ego, offer from him, and I stand most grateful.

Will have to say, after a number of 'wait, I think I've got that in my box, will send it right to you', perhaps surprising anywhere else.

I love this place.

Addie sent. If you think I'm sharing this with the Right Honourable David Cameron...

Doug

Edit: Just wanted to add, the image was a drawing, based on a piccie of me taken at a GenCon, long ago, by a sculptor for Magnificent Egos, who may or may not be totally out of the miniatures business, and I make no claims on any rights beyond 'fair use', which I hope would include sharing on the the forum.

What a relief it won't just go into the bin.

It was a lot of fun with good motivation.  I enjoyed working on this.

The hands have gloves because they were a bit too big to leave as they were.  The toe-caps were a call I made since one foot looked like it might have that and I liked the effect.
