This could have been taken on the same battlefield just before they clashed!

I love the patterning on the blankets a few of the 1st Texas are wearing. Makes them seem much more individual!

As for the cav - they wouldn't happen to be breaking camp on the morning of June 26th 1876, would they?

Well, these are really the Cav's brothers in arms, the 5th Infantry, moving around the Tongue or Powder River area to block some of Red Cloud's hostiles.  But, close enough for me, basically these guys would have been not too far south of Custer along the edge of the Big Horn mountains.
