Her Majesty's Land Ship "Elizabeth"
« on: April 26, 2011, 08:31:51 AM »
A couple of pictures of the experimental HMLS "Elizabeth", recently attached to the Queens Electrical Rifles

She does come with her own self-towed ammunition, coal and water trailer for extended missions, but I haven't painted that yet,  :)

Still, a chap ought to look smart in front of the men, don't you think?

that's a lovely painted interesting new interpretation of the 40K stuff

I am not yet sure if my indoctrinated eye is ready to blank out the "40K" tag, but it certainly brings about a new perspective

Looks great!
Maybe removing some of the "40k-ish" aspects - the plow blade, the front gun - and replacing with more "VSF-ish" bits - cowcatcher, gun from the steam tank - would help former user

I entirely concede its 40k background,  lol, however I had some 40k vehicles and in the interests of economy, I was going to use them. I'll try and be more adventurous with any further additions,  :D

I fully intend to pick up some of the beautiful Ironclad steamtanks when finances allow, and I really fancy one of their scout aeronefs too.

That's probably the most expensive VSF contraption ever.    ;)  But it looks darn good.

Nice work.

My take on 40k armour is here:

So its not just me recycling 40k kits then Bullshott?  lol

I love Major Percy Ironside-Hobart, and the coal hopper on the AVRE.
Hadn't seen that thread before, or I'd have pinched that idea.

I have some Leman Russ tanks too, but those might go to the Prussians. We'll see.

40k... Looks to me like a vamped up T34. GW wouldn't have taken their design from the Soviet workhorse would they? ;D

Paint scheme is great but the turret doesn't look Victorian enough.
Or big enough - most Victorian gun crews are quite large, and that turret doesn't look big enough for 3 or 4 men to sit in. Some Victorian naval turrets were open topped - maybe that would be an option ?

Not sure about the blade either, but mainly on the lines of what would it be needed for ?

Seems I'm not the only one to always make that connection with the chimera. :D

To scrape up zombies, of course.

I think it looks fine. An excellent use for 40K stuff IMO.

The dozer blade? For ramming, for throwing up defences for the poor bloody infantry, for extra armour protection, and to scrape up zombies of course.
(thanks Mancha lol)

I think I WILL give the next one a larger turret, you're right. I DID say it was experimental, :D. Perhaps I'll extend the loading time for the main gun on this one to reflect the lack of room?

As I have some of the 40K kits and bits I just thought I'd get some use out of them. I quite like them, and although they are very World War 1-influenced, they'll do for me for the moment. I can always add to them in the future.

I also have some of the Imperial Sentinel kits which I'm going to press into service for Her Majesty.
(and no, thats not a lascannon, thats a  Tesla-Vickers electro-cannon ;)).
Having seen some examples on this forum, I'm planning a spar torpedo for the next one.

not that 40K wouldn't look steampunk enough - actually it is what defines the imperial guard IMHO

it is just that it is so "cast in bronze" 40K - even simple bits jump into the eye
it is like the vulcans who look elvish because of the pointy ears

So, are these to remain multi-purposed? Removable stack when on the 40K table? Makes perfect sense to me, though I tend to feel sullied by actually using Evil Empire (tm) rules.  lol

So its not just me recycling 40k kits then Bullshott?  lol

That IS tongue-in-cheek, right? They're everywhere, they're everywhere!

Naturally enough, of course. The whole 'Gothic sci fi' means everything has to have an aire of the archaic, where the more rivets the better. Alas, sometimes GW seems to be trying to pull away from their own meme. *shrug*

All the more 'obsolete' kits to bash cheaply; sadly, it's going to be a long wait on the new Dark Eldar Raiders.
