This is why, even though I don't currently do any Western gaming and it's not an area I'm terribly interested in, I'm a regular visitor to the Old West forum - the buildings are often inspired and sometimes brilliant!

The idea of a curved street to enhance the illusion of space is one I'll have to file away for future reference. It wouldn't be as easy to pull off with the early-20th-C pulp era I mostly game, but it's still a great idea.

This is finally a really good looking western town. I am completely surprised how great this looks. Lots of details ( the outhouse ) . Must be a joy to play on this board.

The blog says that this town could be used for NZ wars too? Did old NZ towns look like this too? (only asking, I know nothing about NZ wars)

Some New Zealand towns did indeed look quite "Wild West", though this look was more evident for the gold towns of the later 1800s, particularly in the South Island. Take Arrowtown for example:

So, while still not strictly correct for earlier North Island settings of the NZ Wars, a Western terrain board would suffice with a stretch of imagination.

But if you want to be more accurate than that, then take a look here for a better idea of NZ buildings that were more likely to be encountered in the North Island during the wars:
