Old School Shopping spree
« on: May 08, 2011, 11:11:26 PM »
Here are some pics of my latest old school lead acquisitions.  I've gotta scoot to Mother's Day dinner, so here's the link to the pics on my blog

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with them too.  I got the Marauder Empire Fighters for 50 cents a piece!  The others came a little higher, but I'm still happy with it.

My favorite are the Marauder Reiksguard Knights.  I now have seven of them.  I am converting one to have a two-handed flail, and I just received the halberdier in the mail saturday.

I have one more buying patch to do, and then its mass painting time.

Nice finds! Now start painting them!  ;D
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

I'd love to start painting Brax, but currently my right shoulder blade is frozen in spasm.  Not able to hold a mini, let alone paint one up.

Gonna have to rehab the arm/shoulder first.

I feel sad for you...  Now go onto a shopping spree for more old school goodies to make you feel better ;)

And off my personal best for you!

Thanks Brax. I took your advice and bought another Marauder Reiksguard foot knight.  Its one I don't have and the last of the 5 model set run.  It is the flail and shield knight.

I also grabbed some more old school Jes Goodwin wardancers and a couple archers by him as well.

Now I have most of the Jes Goodwin Wardancers from the eighties, 4 wood elf archers by him, all five version of Marauder foot knights, 3 chaos centaurs, and a gob of Empire fighters.

I really want the Eternal Champion ranges in full as well.  But that's for another day and another paycheck.

Cheers,

@Blue - I picked up most of mine years ago from the Archive service at GWUK.

I have found three on ebay, but no more than that.

They are probably my favorite Empire minis of all time.  And having played with GW minis since '87 that's a lot of great minis to beat!

I found some of the regular Empire Fighters/Dogs of War early range stuff and scored two crossbowmen with sallet helms that were called "Reik Guard" on the White Dwarf ad.  So those are my two ranged support minis.

As of my last count with the last flail wielding knight added, I have 9 total.  I'm sad to report I sold one greatsword with my greatsword empire unit some years back.  I should have kept him.

I'm using them for my Fantasy supplement playtest with my friend Drew.  I'm calling them the Judicial Champions.  They are a knightly order that uses hammer iconography and carry Wargavels (a fancy name for warhammers with a judicial theme) to battle among its higher ranking members.

I love being a geek...

I really, I mean really  want some chaos centaurs, they always go for more than I want to pay (someday). These are all great acquisitions.

Damien

@Damien - yeah, I really lucked out on the auction for those three centaurs.  I'd seen others go for 3 times the price!
