gerard
Gerard,
according to the Order Of Battle for the Camel Corps in Mike Snook's "Go Strong Into The Desert", part of the 1st Battalion, the 35th Royal Sussex were in B Company of the Mounted Infantry Camel Regt. As there is nothing to suggest horses were in use by any companies in this regiment, it seems certain they would be on camels and dressed as other Camel Corps units.
B, C, G and F companies (8 Officers and 250 men) were also part of the Desert Column used as Infantry. As they were never intended to be part of the Camel Corps they are assumed to be dressed and equipped as standard infantry. They apparently travelled on baggage camels, due to lack of any other mounts, but of course dismounted to fight as infantry. There is no mention of any horses being used in the desert column.
I hope that is useful to you.
If you can afford it this book is really worth buying if you are interested in the Sudan. It is the best single-volume reference there is and I'd definitely give it 10 out of 10
