I just watched Lebanon, the Israeli film about a tank in the 1982 war. Biggest pile of shit I've seen in years, a complete waste of time. The tagline should have been 'no war movie cliche left behind'.

Isn't that the one where the perspective is completely from within the tank? I thought the idea seemed a bit original (I haven't seen it though...)

The director apparently thought that Das Boot in a tank was a good idea, perhaps it might have been but for so, so many reasons this film is really fucking woeful. If you weren't at the outset then by about 15mins in you are hoping for a large HEAT round, IED or whatever to put the crew out of their collective misery.

Waltz for Bashir is an incomparably better film.

Just watched Hammer's Brides of Dracula for the first time in many years.  It's always been one of my favourites in the cycle but I'd forgotten how good it actually is.  The castle sets are amazing and Freda Jackson is brilliant as the housekeeper Greta.  Great fun!

Edit: Received today.  Would you believe...

Well, 10 minutes was an interesting film. A strange mix of 40's clothing and 80s settings and hair (budget induced) but worth watching to see the Spirit done right as far as atmosphere and heart are concerned.

I too have Get Smart season 1 :)

Pandorum.
Bloody hell, it's been a long time since I was actually surprised on more than one occassion!
Excellent film :) For me it's up there with the classics such as Alien, Event Horizon and other sci-fi horror greats.

Missed it when it came out and only just caught up with Tropa de Elite 2 (Elite Squad 2). If you haven't seen the original you really should. Thankfully less violent than the first and the ending appeared a little rushed but a good film none the less. The caricature of the fat guy presenting the tabloid crime show is absolutely dead on the money. It was brilliantly funny and absolutely true to the format that is franchised across Brazil.

Of course events have moved on since they started making the film but the street scenes still have an almost cinéma vérité feel.

Just watched the Stallone version of Get Carter, I'm not sure there was a story line just a collection of random events..........
