I just got some rapid prototype hull prints of the 1/56th scale Valkyrie in hand from Shapeways. The Valkyrie has been designed in 3D courtesy of Shane Smith, and worked on through multiple edits to arrive at the final design. This set is for personal use and review, the final master is being printed via Moddler. Moddler is able to print incredibly detailed models, very impressive. We are using the same process for other vehicles currently in design. I’ll release more images as I work on these.

You should keep the distinctive five bolts by the hip. They're as iconic as the overall design of the PzKpf V.

Hi Jakar,
The bolts are indeed there in the final model. What I'm showing is an advanced prototype, not the final print/mold- ready master. I couldn't wait to share, apologies for any confusion this caused -- that's just my excitement coming through on the project! Plus I need to refine my skills as a photographer -- quick snaps with the iPhone just don't do these models credit, especially when they are pure white resin/plastic, and not primed so the detail gets washed out in the image.
Best,
-John-

My photography skills are just as bad. Try as I might, I can never get that optimal quality.

Some more preview images!

First up, are the parts for the Allied Weapons Pack.  Fresh from the 3D printer.  3D work by Shane Smith and prints by Moddler.

Next up is the 3D master print of the Valkyrie and the Axis Weapons pack.

Both sets will be enroute to casting very soon!

Comments Welcome...

Wow!  :o
These will be hard to resist....
How does the canvas cover on the Valk's hips look? That part had stumped me when I was considering to plasticard some myself.
Can't wait to see the rest of the range finally done in a proper size!

Shame about the one part legs. I can understand that they are necessary*, but I would have loved a bit more poseability...

*: from what I could see on the 15mm ones the legs wouldn't actually be able to collapse like they are intented to do. And the separate parts would be a nightmare to produce reliably... Maybe an option kit for the modellers among us could fix this? (But, to be honest I don't know if it would sell in sufficient number to warrant producing one.  :'()

Hi Modhall,
Re: your note on how "legs wouldn't actually be able to collapse like they are intented to do" -- that's not true in the case of these models. We've been able to use 3D art to view these at every possible angle and make sure that they modeled with a good range of motion, so to speak. So while I can't speak to the 15mm miniatures, these 1/56th scale vehicles are designed so that the legs cleanly "collapse" into the driving mode. It's conceivable that we could provide multi-part legs that can be given a dynamic pose, but as you indicated, sales will tell -- we'll consider it though.
Best,
-John-

Yes, I do remember some requests here at the LAF for 28mm GK walkers... 8)

I have no recollection of such requests......  ;)

John, thank you, very nice to hear you've designed the legs to be (theoretically) functional. I can really appreciate you're making them with such care and consideration.
I certainly hope sales will allow you to expand the range.

(Now if you'll excuse me, I really need to stare at the lovely previews a bit more...)

FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU  :o  I go away for a month and this appears!  Amazing.

I'm really impressed by the 3D-printed aspect of this too, thanks for showing us "the process".
