Names for the next books...
« on: 22 May 2011, 08:26:23 AM »
I need your help.

As said in the original posting, I am planning (and working on) Nation specific books on AFVs and Guns.
In a way like my previous "Vehicle Compendiums" on 'roids.
All the vehicles of the whole war plus all relevant guns in one book.

What name would be good?  ???
Somehow
"Victory Decision : World War II
German Gun and Vehicle Compendium
"
has no ring to me...

cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

:) Hmm, I was looking for a name that could also be used on Soviet, US, Brits etc etc ...
And somehow "Roaring Guns & Rolling Wheels. Soviet Artillery & Vehicle Compendium" is still not too convincing...
 ;)

Ah, I thought you were looking for something for the Germans only. Just to get that clear, you do NOT want to do an "omnibus" that covers all the nations in a single volume, but need a generic description that can be used for all the belligerents (i.e. multiple books)?

"A Treadhead's Guide to......"
"Rolling Thunder, a guide to...."
"ViDe Spotter's Guide to......."
"Vide - Nuts and Bolts Guide to....."
"ViDe - Technical Manual of........"
"The ViDe Technical Handbook of......."
"Red Star, White Star - Handbook of WW2 Combat Equipment"

Just a thought!  :D

YES - I am not creating an Omnibus, that would be easily 400 Pages using my usual layout.
I am creating Nation specific books with almost every AFV and Guns used in it.

Therefore I need a name that can be re-used...
Something like:
ViDe - WW II: German Artillery and Vehicles
ViDe - WW II: Soviet Artillery and Vehicles
ViDe - WW II: Italian Artillery and Vehicles

...

The idea behind this approach is the folowing:
I am coming heavily from the painters way of gaming.
Let's say I like US Airborne, have the ViDe rulebook and want to play them.
So I am buying the US Airborne booklet (appr $2) and the US Gun/Vehicle book (appr $12) - DONE!
 8)
No need to buy a huge army book with lots of list in it that are  interesting to me...

you can then make American, German Soviet, etc, etc... versions of it

not very original ... but it's just a hint!  :)

Cheers,
Pedro

So far Field Manual is the most universal title.

OK, for you?
So we would get
ViDe - WWII: German Field Manual
ViDe - WWII: Soviet Field Manual
etc

How about "ViDe-WWII: ____ Technical Manual" for the guns and vehicles and ViDe: WWII: ______Field Guide(or Manual) for the specific lists?

So for example, if I want to build a DAK force, I'd need:
        ViDe-WWII: German Technical Manual
        ViDe-WWII: DAK Field Guide/Manual

Hmmm, very interesting.
I was planning to simple name the specific infantry lists: DAK Army List etc.
But "Field Guide" sounds better...
Sooner or later I should start a Poll...
