Provisional Army List - German Reconnaissance Unit.
« on: May 22, 2011, 04:08:42 PM »
I'm going to post chunks of a provisional army list up here - it's an Aufklarungs or Panzerspah Reinforced Platoon. It should pack a bit of a punch compared with the PanzerGrenadier list, but lacking some of their dedicated Anti-Tank teams.

Let me know what you think.

German Reconnaissance Units Organisation.

As the war progressed in various theatres, the German reconnaissance units added more heavily armed vehicles and expanded the infantry platoons within them. During the later stages of the war, as the need for aggressive combat units acting in a defensive role became necessary, the Reconnaissance, or Aufklarungs, units were used more as PanzerGrenadier units. Most platoons were led by officers, but it became increasingly common for at least 1 of the platoons to be led by a senior NCO (typically the third platoon).

Still got the Heavy Support Options to do, and I do apologise for not getting the tables to line up properly - no matter what I do, they're misaligned!

Thanks Agis, it looks a lot better now that I've taken the vehicle stats out and put them on a separate page; a lot cleaner and neater! I'll get around to finishing the Heavy Support off in the next couple of days and post it up.

Rick,

Great work! I have a model of a 250/10 that I use as a Recon Unit command vehicle. Shouldn't be much of a problem to  stat it out. I assume that the 250/8(75/L24) is part of the heavy support vehicles along with the Puma. Again great work.

Yup - sorry 'bout that - I should've added the option of upgrading the phq vehicle to a 250/10 - I will sort that out!.
As to the 250/8, I'm not sure that it belongs in the heavy support section - I've been considering adding it as an upgrade to the phq, as I've been looking at a fair amount of sites that show it as a second vehicle of the phq. My philosophy on this list is that it should have some good heavy hitting options available, but if you want them all, it'll cost a fair bit; adding the 250/8 to the phq would support that idea. I've slowed down working on the heavy support section atm; I want to see Agis' German Field Manual first, lol!

Rick,

When I play Disposable Heroes, I always attach the 250/8 (which I've nicknamed "Kleinestummel") to my recon platoon headquarters. I keep my two 250/7's as a seperate sp mortar section. Works out well on the battlefield.
Also, a big thanks to you for all the work you've done on this list.

Thanks for the feedback on this - I've tweaked the list a little bit to reflect these changes and added an option for the Luchs - hopefully when I've finished them, Agis might be persuaded to include them with his bundle of army lists (if they're good enough!). As this list can be used for either mid war europe or late war, I think I might have a go at doing an early war list and a mid war africa list (again, similiar enough to go on one list, I think), but I'm not sure whether to do an armoured car squadron list at some point?
