Piefinder!
« on: May 24, 2011, 12:19:57 AM »
This is a "fun" entry for golden demon, I don't expect to get anywhere with it, it is painted to look like a guy I know in real life who's nickname is infact actually piefinder and it is the spitting image of him so in that i have succeed in my goal :D

Base rim needs finishing and I need to sort out the plaque other than that it is finished.

Its also the first and probably only LotR model i will ever paint, although it was a lot of fun to paint :D

its also my first ever attempt at tartan....

Very well painted and a nice little vignette. I do have a comment about the tartan though, I think the squares where red and blue cross would look better if they were actually crossing, rather than the blue overlapping the red, like so (the purplish stripes):

Otherwise the tartan looks very nice, especially for such a small model!  :-*

Edit: picture didn't seem to work, this is another example 8)

Heh, didn't spot that pie first. =D Nice one Damien, really like it - but agree with Pil on the tartan - even though I can't see his pic.

Thanks a lot guys, all in all a lot more positives than a certain comment left on Librarium Online about the base being boring and not in keeping with GW intellectual property which sort of offended me a tad on both counts.  But I rant.

In response to everyone.  Thanks for the kind words.

In response to Pil.  Thanks mate, I will try and remedy that tonight, I like you also felt there was something that just didn't look right about it but I couldn't put my finger on it.

For those interested as well my Great Unclean One made it into the top 20 for the week, happy days! http://www.coolminiornot.com/topweek

If you don't want to answer my next question then feel free not to, but what sort of numpty would even bother to mention something like that. I'm assuming the comment wasn't constructive in any way?

cheers

me for mentioning his post? or him posting it in the first place?

If the former, I like to vent my anger far better than bottling it up.

If the later, its the internet and everyone gets their say?  He's 16 and thinks he knows everything?  He didn't look at the pictures properly?  He has just undergone a full frontal lobotomy?  His daddy didn't buy him that pony when he was younger?  He truely thought it was boring?  I really have no idea James. He did however say he liked the painting on the model so it wasn't all bad.

I could understand the comment if is was just a base with a rock and a little flock, just seemed totally unfounded to me, although I do look at this from a subjective stand point.  But I spoke my mind on the subject and have moved on

Beautiful paint-job! And nice pie!

I have no tips about painting tartan, you painting is light-years ahead of mine. I also have nothing to say about grumpy prats who don't deserve to look at such gorgeous minis! It really is a treat to behold, I hope you do very well.
