Laser-cut pulp buildings from Sarissa
« on: May 29, 2011, 06:13:09 AM »
I'm bending the rules on multi-posting slightly here, but it's not my post I'm re-posting, it's Rob_brensen's over on LAF's little-visited (at least by me!) Superhero subforum.

The UK company Sarissa Precision has started a line of 28mm laser-cut and -etched urban buildings perfect for pulptastic fun.

Footprint is either 6"x4" or 8"x6", extra stackable floors available. 3mm MDF for the walls, 2mm for the windows, doors and other details. They're talking about a massive 8"x16" (!) warehouse being available soon too!

More detail and pics on the Sarissa website, and for sale on the Sarissa webstore.

Obviously I haven't seen these in person (and it'll be a while before I can order any, more's the pity...) but the detail in the photos, the proportions and overall sizes and price all seem great. They're far nicer than Litko's current lasercut urban buildings (and cheaper!), 2/3rds the price of  (and far more flexible than) Old Glory's resin buildings, and that's about it for competition that I can think of.

Very nice! I particularly like that one with the raised steps.  Quite a range of Wild West buildings they've got, too.

.....and post free over £30, too.  :o

I've been watching these for a while and, sadly, spent time on the coach from Cheltenham to London looking for similar.  There are loads.  So, British towns are now easy.  Sarissa for the town's centre, Warbases for the suburbs.  Simples!  :D

As for the new warehouse, well..........  ;D

I recently purchased a couple of buildings from Sarissa and they are top notch quality and easy to assemble. I'll be getting my hands on more. The only work I'll be doing on mine is a few additions such as roof tiles to give the structure a bit more 'depth' as the roof section was too smooth for my liking.

Just be prepared for the smell of burnt wood when you open the packaging.  ;)
Don't!

How do you intend to paint them up?

I was accused of smoking again...." no love, it's the model building I just bought." It all sounded rather feeble.

Binmann, I've added embossed styrene sheets to mine so it'll be dry brush all they way.

These are cool, and at an affordable price/size ratio.

I think I may be getting some... somewhen...

Now, who was it who made the arab buildings in similar sets (I don't remember if those wore wood or resin, but similar modular ones)?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!
