Polyp squads?
« on: May 31, 2011, 05:05:19 PM »
Does anyone know any company that sell squads of Flying polyps? I want a good 40-60 of them and the only one I can find are RAFM's mono-pose polyp and id rather buy a set of them, preferably plastic or resin as well as I dislike working with metal and if I have to repose them (which I assume would be likely..) id rather it be in plastic or resin. Afterall theres plenty of mi-go, shoggies and others but cant seem to find my all-time faves :(

That's a tough question, I think you'll have to sculpt more of these fantastic creatures  ;)

That's one expensive and highly dangerous army.  I hope you're running a superheroes game.

If you're hell-bent on plastic/resin, try
Strange Aeons' Winged Nightmare

(You can leave off the wings if you want to.)

Perhaps use the following metals (besides your RAFM) as squad leaders:

Mirliton: NM013 Floating Death (Grenadier's M-29 flying polyp)

Reaper's http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/faceless%20horror/sku-down/02838 2838 Faceless Horror by Julie Guthrie.

Black Cat Bases Spawn: http://blackcatbases.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=437_491

Alternatively, you could look for photos of these figs from different angles and make some paper minis from them.

If this is a one-time game scenario, maybe go the Fimo and ball bearing route.  Mount them on flight stands.  Tip: pizza box supports can help you there in a pinch - if you live in a country that has pizza delivery that is.

nice links, I've seen a lot of those before - but some I havent - but suffice to say, my bank is going to be empty soon!

We'ere running "mythos wars", stuff like the legendary battles between the great race and polyps and the Elder-things and Shoggoths...large scale skirmishes ect. I drool at the mere thought of it....I've said too much I know.
