Surprisingly enough, Foundry has a nice article on painting WWI figures that includes Uhlans:

I presume that you're interested in early war (1914-1915) cavalry?

I wish some new Uhlans would come along. The Foundry Great War range is nice enough, but it's teeny tiny compared to the newer ranges I want to mix them with.

Biggles is always getting chased by Uhlans. I like Uhlans. The really skillful ones can carry a round of drinks from the bar on the top of their hats.

I've not seen them (neither photos nor the real thing) but apparently the Battle Honours German Cavalry are Uhlans.  BH are a little smaller than the competition (Renegade, Brigade et al), but generally I have no problem mixing them on the same battlefield.

So might be worth considering them as an option!

Ah, thanks. That's good to know. I do have some BH stuff, I find it mixes quite nicely with my Brigade and Copplestones, size-wise. But my early war collection is entirely Renegade, which are a size up again from them. Maybe I'll just get one pack to try out.

The Renegade cavalry horses are big, plus I don't like the design (all the weight of horse and rider rests on a single leg).  I'm gradually finding remounts for my BEF lancers as the horses break their legs.

Here are a few comparison shots between Renegade and BH.  You can see the differences between the horses, but once the troops get remounted the difference is reduced.
