Painted Pit Beast
« on: November 12, 2007, 09:03:06 PM »
Well, I had to get one of our new Pit Beasts painted for my convention game. It does not have the same quality and level of detail that I see on this forum from the better painters, but I figured some people might want to see it assembled.

The Pit Beast is often used in the arenas on Tannis, hence it being called the Pit Beast as the arenas are often sunk into the ground with the spectators at ground level.

I'll be putting up a stat sheet for Fantastic Worlds for it this week.

I do not know why, but somehow, it reminds me of the Violator in the final scenes of the Spawn film.

...which, in my opinion, is a compliment!  :D

Dunno if it's just the pic, but I would have toned down the teeth a bit, they look VERY yellow that way.

He needs broken chains dangling from his armlets.

A champion pit beast could have it's horns shod in precious metal, inlaid with it's name and a curse on those who face it!

Reminds me of the god-monster-thing imprisoned by the Black Hole in "The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit" in Doctor Who.

I suppose you could use him in that role with 6mm or 15mm figs.

This thing looks even more scary when I think that I'll probably soon be facing it, 30mm tall, in the "Arena of Justice" scenario...oh well, I'll just get my buddy, Retrovian Science Officer Lorenzo Nix, to give it the Retrovian Death Grip...Marc! Whaddya mean "There's no such thing as the Retrovian Death Grip"?!?!

Now he tells me! Seriously, my collapsing job prevented me from being as active as I would like. Still, no matter - I'll leap onto the back of the Pit Beast, yank its horns to pull its head back, and then Lorenzo will plung his trusty Retrovian shortsword into its neck! By the way, have you seen the free online preview of the 5150 supplement with the Retrovians and the Khang?
