The Swizzle Stick Orks...PHOTO HEAVY
« on: June 17, 2011, 10:41:32 PM »
One of my erstwhile patrons/acquaintances came into the possession of a bunch of TRULY HORRENDOUS looking Orks as part of an eBay Thingy...SO, as a good will gesture, he passed them on to moi.
In the mix were a group of Lads with swizzle sticks stuck on as extensions to their gun barrels as a feeble attempt at home grown "Big Shootas". After removing the caked on paint..."painted on" wouldn't adequately describe their afflicted condition...& the swizzle sticks, I discovered rusty staples stuck in off center to support the "improved" gun barrels. Being a bloody minded Old Man I came up with the Guys I'm about to show you...SO for any of you that are still with me, THE SWIZZLE STICK ORKS from HELL!

For those of dubious tastes who would like to see close ups & such:  http://s762.photobucket.com/albums/xx269/DeafNala/40k/Orks/

As always your comments & critiques are MOST WELCOME...mostly.
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx

Excellent work, clean execution, very colourful in a good way. I am no fan of NMM or this "elevated" basing style, but the overall impression is great.

What a great load of characters!

They'd make some great 'flash gits' because of how over the top they are!

Very funny description of what happened, I have had a similar eBay experience recently with some Burna Boyz!

Great painting. You would never have known they were "rescued" from a previous life of bad painting and bad conversion work. The style you use, is not a way that I like to paint, but I can appreiciate all the effort that has gone into them. The colour choice is perfect. Job well done.

Absolutely, they dont look like second hand guys at all.

The palette used is great.  I am not into NMM either personally, but the unit looks lovely.

Nice :)

Nice save! You've done a really great job on them, I'd have never guessed that they were 'rescues' .

Thanks for the kind words, Guys! Getting positive feedback is always a motivating factor with moi...at my age anything that gets me moving is a positive thing.
I have mixed feelings about NMM myself. After going crazy with it for a while, I generally limit it to the SciFi stuff now, & that is with the idea that the actual use of metals is rare, metals having been replaced by ceramic/plastic wonder concoctions.

Well done! I love rescues. there is nothing more satisfying then taking someones f-ups and turning them into art.  You did that with these orcs!

Thanks, Jim...glad you liked the Lads.
The S.S.Orks may wind up staying with Mordheimer & being used in his Death Squad Games.
