Age of Sail Project WIP
« on: June 22, 2011, 10:03:16 PM »
I've been working quigte a bit on Langton's fantastic 1:1200 AoS Naval models recently.  I've got British 1x1st rate, 3x3rd rate and the HMS Indefatiguable painted at this point and 3/5 of these rigged. One French 76 gun finished as well. Terrain for harbor defense scenarios is still in the works.

So, at this point I turned to my panels and added two 2'x2' open water boards and reworked my existing coastline panels to fit my evolving vision of what a seascape needs to look like. I dutifully took a roller and went over my old brushwork to get a more stipply or mottled look and subsequently used a very dry roller to add a little bit of chop to the surface.  A little gloss sealant and I'm calling these done (At least until I have another terrain building epiphany.)

amazing!

I love this maritime stuff and I am into historical sailing ships anyway (Hornblower, anyone?).

Bur maybe the British ships should have some more grey and weatherd sails, due to their often very long period at sea for blockade duty!

However - great work here!

I like the water effect, what did you use for varnish?

Thanks all. Evanion, no varnish yet, that's just the paint at this point.  I plan to coat with Scenic Express Water Gloss later this week though.

I like the water effect, what did you use for varnish?
