Old West Livery
« on: June 26, 2011, 08:26:28 PM »
Two days work. I'm quite happy with the result. I still need to add the signage and some internal detail.  I used Col O'Truths Tutorial as inspiration and it really helped a lot, For the roof I used duct tape wrapped around cardboard for texture then it spayed black.

Lucky timing with the sun

Very nice, will revisit it soon to help inspire the one that needs to be worked on for my town.  Really like the roof line you used, too many use the mansard roof that is just wrong - in my opinion - for most of the old west. (though a lot of that has to do with people using plastic models that are formed that way, I suppose)

Looking for another inspiration?
I built one with a slidind door.

The sliding door: (2 home made metal hook slinding on a nylon cord).

That is seriously impressive.

Love the 'mood' shots as well.

It's just like in the movies.  Does the roof lift off or one of the walls slide away so you can have gunfights inside.  It it does I am in awe. Totally in awe.

The roof lifts off and the the main support beams are inside. I have not done anything else with the inside....yet. But I'm contemplating spending a little extra effort as the livery is one of those places that's good for a gunfight.

Very cool.  If I would have one suggestion it would be to bevel the edge of the baseboard - unless you have made the terrain to butt up against other pieces with a flush join in which case, ignore me :)
