Thanks for the advice on photos, Argonor.

Will leave that to the Mrs in future. She got pretty good pics of the Skaven just holding the camera freehand and using available light. She knows what she is doing so I will leave it to her in future.
I will let her get on with the 'proper' photos in future, and stick to battle report photos etc. for my feeble attempts.

They look much better  8) but might I suggest a bit of matt varnish on some of the characters, some of the cloth looks a bit shiny  ???

cheers

James

Jimbibbly; I can see your point, they just dont seem that bad in the flesh.
Although to be honest, I probably wont bother doing anything to the existing Skaven as I have a load of the original 80's models that I would like to replace them with eventually.
That could be a long time away, though. You know the problem- Too many projects and ideas, not enough time!

Undertaker's

Got a bit more done on the Undertaker's earlier in the week.
The second storey is coming along nicely, I still have more to do to it, including the attic floor and the rest of the roof. It will be easier to paint the interior now, before I finish the roof.
This is how far I had got on Monday, firstly showing the extraa section that will be added;;

Some pictures of the extra section sitting on top of the original piece;

I realise that it looks a little top heavy at the moment, but it should be fine when finished and painted.
Hoping to get this finished, or at least usable, over the weekend.

We have a few games planned for next week, so hopefully we can get some pictures taken.

Looking good, Mason! My only worry is if it's big enough to house all of your boys once the Pits Bog Stealers have been in town...

Looking forward to the next batch of games. Seriously considering trying out the Nuln Gunnery School soon - but guess I need to paint 'em first... :D

That is JUST LOVELY; it's almost too beautiful to use in a mere game...almost. As you may be able to tell, I am VERY IMPRESSED with your craftsmanship & the level of detail you achieve. Keep up the FINE WORK...if you'd be so kind.
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx

Yep. You know the rules. ;)

Deafnala, Luckyjoe;  Thanks for the encouragement, Chaps. Your views, being the extremely talented fella's that you are, are most appreciated. :)

Argonor; I hope it does work that way.
The intention when building this project was to make all the components as non-genre-specific as possible.
I hope to be able to use as many of the elements in as many different types of genre's as possible, hence avoiding the normal predilection for making Mordheim scenery dark and sinister.
For example, I intend to use these pieces in our upcoming VSF project as the ruins of Atlantis.

I DO intend to have the overhang projecting as far as possible, James, but may be limited from pushing it out as much as I would like by the base.
All of the elements are designed to be stored in A4 paper boxes, hence the uniform base sizes, and it may not fit in if I push it too far.
I hope I can still get the desired effect....

Could you have it detachable? I like the idea of having it all in the A4 boxes  8)

This thread has me thumbing my crumbling Mordheim rulebook with a wistful tear in my eye (probably the dust).  It's so inspiring to watch the projects of others unfold!  Can't wait to see the undertaker's finished...

James;
I had toyed with the idea of it being detatchable and have given it some more thought since you posted.
It would be better with more overhang.
I think I have a solution and will get working on it later in the week.

The Undertaker's has had some progress since the last post and will now need a little more work done if it is going to 'hang out' a bit further.
Not a problem, I enjoy the challenge.
As it may keep being knocked off, I am going to use some of Antenoceti's corbels to act as 'pins' to clip it in place;
http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/set-of-6-gothic-corbels.html

I also need to add some detailing before painting the interior.
This will need to be painted up first before adding the rest of the roof, as I may not be able to get to it once the roof is finished!
After that, it will be on to the 'products.'
I have half a dozen coffins to paint up before adding them to the piece.

Thnks for the comment, Mr F-F. (I always crack up when I see your user name, Barmy. lol)

Although I am really enjoying making this piece, I cant wait to see it finished, as I have one more major piece of Krappfortt to complete, a slum section, before I take a break from building scenery so that I can move on to my VSF project. I have amassed quite a lot of miniatures and 'bits' to get me started and am itching to do so!
I wont ever call it finished, as I have so many ideas for pieces to add, and three boxes of scenery 'bits' accumalated for Krappfortt alone, that I think I will being adding sections to the town forever!

Hello Chaps!

Well, the other night Legionnaire Bert and Kitsune popped round for an evening's mayhem in Krappefortt.

There were three games in total;
Possessed (LB) vs Witch Hunters (K)
Witch Hunters (K) vs Shadow Elves (M)
Shadow Elves (M) vs Dwarven Treasure Hunters (LB)

Much carnage and mayhem ensued in the Gaol district of Krappefortt and many photos were taken.
Unfortunately, as is becoming par for the course, my use of the camera was woeful!
Fortunately, Kitsune also took plenty of piccies on his phone and these should be ok. (He not being of the camera illiterate species that I, quite obviously, am).

I will post the pictures of the games that I took came out passable, and Kitsune has promised to add his to this thread to improve the clarity and prove that these games DID actually take place!

Here are a selection of the least distorted pictures that I took, starting with the encounter between the Dwarven warband, the Pits Bog Stealers and the mysterious Shadow Elf warband.
 The scenario generated was Skirmish- a straightforward fight between two wandering warbands encountering each other in the ruins of Krappfortt.
 Apprpriate enough considering these two groups have a 'history' and wouldn't need any excuse to attack each other;

The Elves take the high ground against the Dwarves.

Ogre vs Trollslayer. (The Ogre eventually emerging victorious!)

The majority of the Dwarven warband advancing outside the main gate to the Gaol

The Ogre and the Warcat of the Elven warband advancing at ground level

To avoid more embarassment for the Pits Bog Stealer, the outcome of this encounter shall remain a mystery!

The next set of photos were taken during the encounter between the Witch Hunters and the Shadow Elves.
 The scenario was Occupy, where the bands are contesting the search rights of the Gaol. The four corner buildings were the objectives in question;

The Witch Hunters starting the game at one end of the Gaol, with the Ogre and a flaggelant starting up high in an attempt to rush via the walkways

The Ogre was gaining ground at a rapid rate, whilst being peppered by shots from any Elf that could draw a line of sight to him.

The Ogre took two wounds from the rain of arrows aimed in his direction over several turns, before being charged by the brave (Suicidal!?!) Elven leader, who managed to get in an amazingly lucky critical hit and took him down, causing him to topple from the walkway and hit the ground with a great crash!
 He had done his job, though, and soaked up all the enemy bowfire allowing the rest of the Witch Hunters to advance unmolested.

The Elves then turned their attention to the other members of the Witch-hating Templars of Sigmar

While the Elves had been busy shooting at the ogre, a crazed Flaggelant had managed to engage the Elven Lord, only to suffer the same fate as his larger comrade.

Meanwhile, at ground level another pair of Flaggelants had been engaged. The first was shot down before he could bring the Elves to battle, leaving the lone survivor to be attacked by the two Elven champions, who managed to take him down.

After dispatching first the ogre and then a crazed Flaggelant, the Elf Lord turned his attention to the advancing Witch Hunter Captain. Taking aim with his longbow, the Elven leader took down his opposite number with an amazing shot between the eyes, killing him instantly!
Upon seeing this the rest of his band fled the field leaving the Elves in control of the Gaol!

The victorious Elves investigate the ship moored at the dock by the Gaol

The clash between the Possessed and the Witch Hunters was a very short and brutal encounter with the Chaos-tainted attempting to perform a Breakthrough and escape off of the board edge where the Witch Hunters initially started.

The really bloody action took place by the docks, with the heavyweights of both sides charging headlong at each other

The two bands crashed into each other with the Warrior Priests unleasing the power of Sigmar in the form of the Prayer of Soulfire, taking down a mutant and inflicting a wound on a Beastman and the huge glowing Possessed!

(It appears the Possessed had earlier fallen in the dock before entering an abandoned flour mill, hence his all-white appearance- Yeah? Right! We still do not believe you, Rob. You had better get him painted up before the next game!)

The two crazed warbands engage each other in furios combat, during which the Chaos band lost both of the previously wounded Possessed and Beastman!

Seeing these champions of the Lord of the Pit fall the rest of the warband thought hanging around would be seriously detrimental to their health and fled!

All in all, a great evenings gaming, thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Kitsune; Please add any pics that you took. You know how many I took and these are the only ones that came out half decent. Cheers.

All looking good! Heres my write up below, with recycled gags, added trouser shots and more blurry pics.

My Witch Hunters dragged themselves over to deepest South East London last night, in order to bring the light to ruined Krappefort. (i.e. we played Mordheim).

I'd been looking forward to this due to the table reports and snippets of pictures coming through & had spent the last week or so repainting my warband getting them up to scratch. I think you'll agree that it was worth the drive.........

Krappefort Dockyards

First game saw The Brotherhood facing off against Legionnaire Berts Possessed gang in a short and violent fight. He had a rather nasty looking Possessed making its way along the cobbles with a couple of mutant gribblies (on his way back from the flour mill by the look of it). Big George (the ogre), a couple of flagellants and Father Meldrum weaved over and set about these with supporting fire from above.

Possessed then promptly turned and did one after a solid kicking!

Next up was a Elven warband, led by the Mason. Scary prospect when it was a terrain grab scenario making me advance under the hail of fire.

Basic plan? Hide behind the Ogre and let him get shot to pieces, then storm in at the end. Hence BG starting atop the walkways and legging it at top speed, taking wounds along the way but covering my advance and putting the BROWN FEAR into the Elves under his unstoppable advance.

Get up that ladder! (includes a shot of Masons big gun coming into play)

Sadly, it all went wrong from there as once we hit the lines, I failed to hit ANYTHING. And I mean - I missed every single attack and shot in the whole game and took an utter kicking for my feeble efforts. Looked great though!

Sadly, the curse of the Witchfinder General held true and Gustav Weil, the leader, died of his injuries after the game. Why do Witch Hunter leaders always die early on? This is at least the fourth one that I know of. Father Meldrum got promoted to defacto crusade leader and gained an extra wound. Painful, but I had the resources to deal with my losses.

And I'd only just bought that damned duelling pistol too.

After this, a classic Elves vs Dwarves matchup, with the dwarves putting a team of miners to appear under the table. Elves kept off the ground as a cautious move and the free ogre that wandered in was left to deal with any combat.

Despite working under Berts (Rommel) masterplan that was "move forward a bit, then change me mind and wander back the way we came. VERY SLOWLY" , the Dwarves just couldn't get a bead on the Elves raining fire down on them. They are nails though and it took a HELL of a lot of fire power from Mason to wound any of them.

Finest Dwarven prospectors outgunned by Elves, eh? I think they need to have a word with themselves.

Great night, great scenery and a great narrative throughout the games. Class.

Mason, Kitsune (AKA Paul and Erik)

Well, where to begin replying to you two 'comedians'? (and I used the term advisedly...) :P

I have to say, thought it was a bit mean taking pics of poor Malifax (me possessed), in nowt but his 'undies'! I don''t take pictures of you two in yours....well, not on this site, that's a more specialist one...

I only knew I'd need to take a new warband at short notice, so there was no time to get the possessed painted up - the rest of the 'band are done. Treat these shots of Mal as a work in progress - I am already working on the big fella so he should be painted for the next round of games. Either that, of he'll remain in his floury garb and I shall just use my expereinced, fully-painted 'nails dwarves on the remnants of those witch hunters! (Not gonna take on the elves again without some improved firepower or ogrish back up! It's an ogre arms race, I tell ee...). As for the flour, the fact that my possessed chickened out so early means old Malifax could well end up in the local KFC... lol

The dwarves have a long and proud racial history of marching all over the board to little tactical effect (it's been going on for years in my broader gaming circle). In my defence (again!) I was needing to move the boys around a bit to try to counter the superior elven marksmanship; although I am sure Mason managed to miss the odd barn door on occassion...

Another fab night of gaming, most entertaining. Both the Pits Bog Stealers and Theatre of the Grotesque will be back to extract revenge on both The Brotherhood and...the, erm, 'elves' (sort out that warband name, Mason! ::)). All shall be painted next time!

Another superb evening on a superb table - well done Mason, and thanks to Kitsune.

Till the next one, fellas.

Bert  :D
