Action at Sittangbad - AAR added
« on: July 15, 2011, 10:22:33 PM »
Based on ‘The Battle of Sittangbad’ by Young & Lawford from Charge! or How to Play War Games

You'll recognise the scenario if you're a SOG member over at Ambush Alley (or indirectly if you're Old School!)

A major Taliban offensive in Helmand has been thwarted by British forces and the resulting counter-offensive has the group running for the hills. The local leader is unwilling to loss his most valuable supplies and has set up a rear-guard operation in advance of the main bridge across the Sittang to give him time to evacuate his headquarters.

I'll be playing this tomorrow using Force on Force

Looks great! I'm ooking forward to seeing how it pans out  :D

I always thought "Sittangbad" sounded rather an odd name for an 18thC European battle.

This looks much more "Sittangbad-ish" to me  ;)

The original battle 'Sittang Bridge' was in Burma in 1942; I think they changed it to 'Sittangbad' to sound more German.
To me though Sittangbad definitely sounds like it could be in the region (Islamabad, Hyderabad, Abbotabad) - I probably should change it to Sitaangabad or something...

Great AAR! Lovely figures and terrain and your pics seem to capture the confusion and chaos of war in the Stan perfectly.

I can't bring myself to game modern stuff (personal reasons) but love to see this sort of game done so well.

Looking forward to seeing more  :D

I am guessing the guys who the Warrior faced down didn't last too long in the game!
