A small group of allied agents have been carefully tracking their way across the North African desert to one of the more remote settlements looking for the Relic of Artemis. Unknown to the Allies, a reconnaissance group from an Axis force have also been tipped of about the presence of the Relic in the area. Both groups enter the village at the same time ...

As this was our first game we decided to each have a warband of “Archaeologists”, but without a henchmen group. Each side comprised a Leader, Sponsor, Professor and three guards. The objective of the game was to retrieve the relic located in the centre of the board and escape to the board edge. A 3’ x 3’ board was used, with each group setting up in opposite corners. The terrain comprised a central ruined area with surrounding intact buildings.

The first few turns found both groups cautiously moving forward through the outskirts of the village.

A few opening pot shots were exchanged at maximum range whilst the Allied guards made their way into the ruined area.

The Axis troops had managed to enter one of the buildings and tried to take advantage of their elevated position.

With a mad scramble across the ruins of a past age, one of the Allied guards managed to grab the artefact, whilst one of his colleague managed to KO an Axis guard.

Conceding the game, the Axis group moved out of the area.

An interesting first game - looking forward to the next one - maybe some mummies or other nasties ...

Eeee! This makes me excited to get my games started (hopefully soon). What range are the Afrika Allies and Axis from? I recognize most of the actual archaeologists but not the guards. Conversions maybe? Those German korps men look fierce, and the British are just perfect with those knit caps. Makes me want to pick them up myself, see what I can do! Any leads appreciated... and keep the series going!

Hi,

Thanks guys,

@ fanfavorite - the British and German Guards are from the Artizan WWII range - DAK and LRDG/SAS -

We've had the figures painted for several years and it was good to actually get them into a scenario.

Now I have made some suitable buildings to go with my mates Egyptian terrain we can hopefully have a few more scenarios.

Thanks all,

Looks like a great game, wish I could've been part of it!

I might let you play next time ...

Forgot to mention that the DAK and most of the explorer minis were supplied and gamed by my good mate Mike, he did a real top notch paint job on them which my phots do no justice to at all.

My apologies if I missed it, but what rules do you use?

Great looking game there. I've just bought the rules- how do they play? They read very well and we'll try a game sometime soon.

Thanks, I enjoyed them - fairly fast play with minimal "book keeping". It was the first time we had gamed with them but we picked up the basics quickly although we didin't use a henchman group. Make sure you have plenty of d6 to throw and remember a "6" counts as two goals.

Fast and fun - I'll be using the rules again.
