Thought I'd let you guys know about the display the Aberdeen Wargames Club have put together to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the battle of Harlaw.
For those not up to speed with their Medieval Scot's History, the battle was fought to resolve claims to the Earldom of Ross. Donald, Lord of the Isles, disputed the claims made by the Regent of Scotland. In proper Highland fashion, he decided the best way to sort all of this out was by force. Gathering a large mob he made his way to Aberdeen but was met at Harlaw by a force of defenders led by the Earl of Mar.
The gorgeous table, fashioned by one of our very talented members, is on display at Aberdeen Art Gallery until the end of July. Most of the 750 or so figures are from Scheltrum, a local company whose figures have been up here in a variety of periods, and have been painted by about 11 of the AWC's members.
For more pics pop on over to our website. You can also find loads of material on Harlaw at the moment with a wide variety of events to commemorate the anniversary.
