Napoleonics in 40 mm - question
« on: August 15, 2011, 01:31:42 PM »
Hi,

I am currently interested  in the Black Powder period and beside other projects of that time ( especially Malamutes Mexican War and Zorro Range as well as the Maori War )   I am very much  interested in 40 mm Napoleonic miniatures.

I found a lot of help in the internet but still have questions because I don t know one single person who wargames this scale.

I want to play skirmish games in 40 mm.  In case I change to mass battles one day I would pick smaller scales. Probably 20 mm because I know a few guys around here who play this scale.

Anyway...so its gonna be 40 mm because the figures stand out, its a kind of unique here and I am sure it would make also a good game for the Tactica wargames show in two years...  ;)

My question so far ...

are there still only Perry and S&S available ????

are the Perry Miniatures the end of the flag pole or are other miniatures also that good or maybe better ?

are Sash and Sabre really compatible with the Perry Miniatures ?

and finally anyone of you guys some 40 mm Napoleonics to sell ?

I appreciate your help.

Thank you !

Björn

I did not care about this scale, but I can suggest another site with figures of 40 mm in any period:

HLBS had some 40mm before. If you email them they might have some stock left. This is also a good site for a start:

There was another company that did 40mm Portugese cacadores...the name eludes me tight now though. I painted up sveeral Perry and Sash and Saber figures for a friend a couple of years ago. Size wise they are compatible IMO (I'd happily mix them). The Perry stuff is slimmer and some people think better.

Thank you for your replies guys.

HLBS has no 40`s left. That was a good idea to ask Richard.

I think its gonna be the Perry Stuff then...

No one 40`s to sell ?

Cheers
Björn

I am afraid I cannot help you. I am holding on to my 40mm. I have Perry, S&S, HLBS and Gringo40s and they all look sooooo good. If you´re into Napoleonics you should try to get hold of Graven Images 40mm Sharpe &Harper:

BTW you must check out the new S&S Retreat from Moscow figures. Real characters!

Sounds like a great project. Eye candy of the highest standards. Can't wait to see it come together ;D

Mosstrooper beat me to it - Irregular have 42mm Napoleonics at a very reasonable price - less than some 28mms I could mention.
Plus for something a little different have just released the first of their "Deutsche Homage" Napoleonic bits - think old Heyde/Haffner Toy soldiers of ca 100years ago.

Good luck with the project - 40mm is the new 28mm! Plus they are easier to paint with ageing eyes!
