Just love seeing so much of that old stuff. I have a lot of the same figures myself. It is all still great with a good paint job. My lizardmen are still seeing a lot of service on Venus.

Very nice looking lizardmen.  Once again you've done a great job bringing those classic figs to life.
So many games, so little time.

Thanks Herby, Professor and m4jumbo! Lizardmen and Bugbears at about 95% now... got to put in one more effort.

Getting set to run some AD&D 1e today and thought I'd drop a pic of the party. This is actually as it was the last session, but if you trade out the thief (rip) and add another fighter you get the party today. Pardon me for the blurriness of the front two fighters. Didn't use a big enough f-stop to get them all in focus.

L-R Dynis Pofokes (cleric), Aureo (half-elf cleric), Ott Gravelspit (dwarf fighter), Choderick Argenhelm (paladin), Leofwin (half-elf ranger), Twiss (magic-user), and Dendron (elf thief). All were done by me save Twiss. Have passed the painting bug to one of my players and this is his third fig (all painted in the same couple weeks).

Excellent stuff.

It is great to see the older figures painted up and used for RPG's. Makes a great deal of difference to the game when everyone can move their alter-ego around.

Great looking party of classic adventures.   Isn't that always the way, you spend time painting up characters like the thief, then they go and die right away...

Any plans to write a synopsis of the 1E adventure on your blog?

Great looking party!
 :-*

Sod's Law- You paint up a character and he goes and dies on you!
My players banned me from drawing their characters after the deaths of the first two drawn!

I really enjoy following this thread, it brings back so many memories of my youth.
The paintjobs you pull off are amazing, I didnt think the figures from this period could look this good.

Great stuff!

Thanks some more!

lol I'm actually surprised the thief was the first and only death so far! I'm running the game strictly by the book old school and death is just a fact of life.  :) I know this means more work painting but it's worth it to break away from the precious snowflake mentality popular for old  old school pundits to decry these days.

The hardest thing about PCs and miniatures is trying to convince players to PLAY the MINIATURE rather than first conceptualizing a picture in your mind then rooting through my boxes for the closest match. Look through the box FIRST and pick the dude, then just play that dude. That way your character is a PERFECT MATCH EVERY TIME. And moreover most of the work is done for you as you can read into the pose, expression, equipment, etc and personality traits will suggest themselves. I can't say enough how strongly I feel about this point. The miniature is dead right. What's in your head needs to fall in line.

Any plans to write a synopsis of the 1E adventure on your blog?

Plans, yes... but the reality of time is the crusher of all my dreams. :) I do have a great synapses of session 6 one of my players wrote... I'll dig it up and with any luck it might be able to entertain and possibly even make sense to someone outside the group. In some parallel world where I have more time I might even post the adventure module up. What would make this one unique from the bazillions of others out there would be, aside from shear quality, ahem ;), would be it would be miniatures and dwarven-forge-friendly and come with a fig roster and prop list so you can prep easily. Possibly with some alt suggestions for adapting to your collection/making due with fewer monster groups.

A couple quick ones while I get the goblins ready to post:

Very good all over, but the verdigris and rust on that shield is particularly great!

It's funny, I know sculpts are technically far better now but I love seeing the old-school minis painted up and I think on the whole I do prefer them. Great thread and great paintjobs - thanks for your efforts.

That said, one exception might be Otherworld  Miniatures, your WIP shot of some of their Bugbears a few pages back has inspired me to make another purchase from them.
