Sccale of Dystopian Wars
« on: August 24, 2011, 08:56:27 AM »
Hello all,

Like the topic title says. Does anybody know the scale of the Dystopian Wars miniatures? In a few months we'll be starting a new 6mm Future War Commander campaign at our club and while not exactly future, I intend to use my Warmachine Cygnar warjacks as gigantic battle walkers and now I'm looking for models to fill in the role of smaller vehicles to support my warwalkers. And I feel Dystopian Wars models match the look of those Cygnat Jacks, so ... The scale doesn't have to be an exact match for 6mm as size of the vehicles differs greatly with so called 1/300 futuristic manufacturers but if it really off by too much, does anybody know a line of 1/300 VSF miniatures?

They claim to be 1/1200th scale, but thats kinda....well....silly. The ships are around the size of 1/600th - 1/400th scale ships but with all the scaling details (doors, windows ect) being 1/1200th. I think the idea is that they are ment tobe super-dooper-mega-uber steampunk megaships. I would think theyd work for 6mm without too much trouble at all!

Concerning the use of the ships I disagree completely. The Uncharted Seas ships are 1/400th to 1/600th and even they don't work with 6mm figures. A frigate that could at best carry 20 soldiers, just looks wrong.

Still Skratch asked about the tanks and they are a completely different matter. Ignoring the small hatches the tanks and walkers could work good enough with 6mm. The medium flyers (Gyros, Rotors) could also work, but not the big flyers or the zepellins.
However unusable are the tank tokens.

Hello, my first post on the board!

I am wondering if someone can give me an idea how tall (in mm or inches) the Prussian Empire Metzger class robot is? Would it be feasible to use it in a 28 mm game?

Got a chance to look at a Metzger and it stood about the height of a 3.5" action figure. I thought it could work quite well as giant automaton for 28mm game, just didn't have a need for one right now.

My google-fu is mighty. At the bottom of this page you will find a comparision with a Space Marine:

Thanks! It looks like it could stand in for a large (say, 15 to 20 foot tall) robot in a 28 mm game.
