Photobucket
« on: August 28, 2011, 07:34:17 PM »
Lately I have been having loads of problems with Photobucket, when I put the photos up on here they are warped, distorted and stretched. I was wondering if anyone had any alternatives to photobucket. I've seen a few but none have all the benefits of Photobucket, i.e. the ability to upload, edit and share on forums such as this.

I've just signed up for Picasa but there doesn't seem to be a way to link the photos to the forum, that I'm aware of anyway although the editing functions seem to be adequate for what I need.

I'm getting really frustrated with Photobucket and I'd really like a viable alternative. Has anyone else experienced these problems or does anyone have a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Do your editing/re-sizing in Picassa and then upload to Photobucket.

I have had loads of trouble when editing in PB but it seems to work fine for the hosting bit.

What Svennn said.  Absolutely no need, reason or excuse to use Photobucket or any other online resource to edit photos.  Use photo-editing software on your PC.  Then use PB just for hosting.   :)

I too edit all my stuff on my PC in AcdSee pro 2 before I upload, (mostly resize and auto adjust color&contrast).

For image hosting, I would suggest imgur. Most of my friends are using it and have zero complaints.

I'm going to go with Svenn's suggestion for now, I did try imgur but I couldn't work out how to get the pictures from there to here other than by linking the site, however I was having a hissy fit with photobucket at the time and so wasn't really concentrating as well as I might have been. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I do all my editing in Photoshop. I love the ability to change the exposure and brightness- the photos always look better with a little more light. For cropping, I use paint. I have never edited in Photobucket and I have never had a problem with anything I have uploaded, even very large images. Photobucket automatically reduces their size, but they never get distorted.

I've been using ImageShack for years for basic hosting (anything I don't either put up on Flickr or on my own blog). Never had any issues, and while the UI is hideous, it's marginally better than PhotoBucket, IMO. It works, anyway.

No idea if ImageShack does online editing, that sort of thing is better done offline anyway.
