I have made a bit of progress with the castle after a few sleepless nights. Basically as its 1/72nd scale I've had to upscale it a bit using foam to replace sections which I've had to steal to heighten the walls. The towers are also quite small so I've had to combine them to get the right look.

The walls are a bit unstable so I going to have to put a base under them as I need to keep the whole thing transportable for club meetings. I cannot just glue them down on a large terrain board. :-[ The tower divides into three floors for playability.
I've also just undercoated eleven figures and hope I can now paint properly with my new glasses. The club is starting Saga so I may find myself using these figures until I decide which faction I want to buy for that.

Yep, I really like the GW Robin Hood, very Errol Flynn :)

Finally made some progress  :D The figures are not varnished yet as I'm a little worried about losing the highlights.

Will Scarlet, Alan Adale, Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, un-named?

Little John, Andre, The Sherif, Mildred, Marian.

Castle mockup.

A book I read recently was Outlaw, quite a different take on the Robin Hood theme and a good swashbuckling read...a bit Bernard Cornwell in style

Picked it up yesterday after reading this post. Almost finished it today. Great read.
There are supposed to be 5 books in the series with the first three "Outlaw", "Holy Warrior" and "King's Man" are out now. Book 4 "Warlord" is scheduled for summer 2012.

These books are told from the life of Alan-A-Dale.
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

I read Outlaw which gave me the idea for doing a larger scale game and have Holy Warrior which I have not started yet. I will look out for the others thanks.

Thanks (blush), no I am converting a plastic Celt for Much. I may use the GW name but have forgotten it just now.

I think it's Guy le Gros (Fat Guy). Which would make him French (and thus a Norman), which doesn't make much sense in an band of Saxon outlaws.
