You've made the plaster come out very clean and solid in the casting, Olle. What are you using, dental plaster? Also, cute little joke using a Swedish sign on that door. :)

@zizi666: It means "Danger!" - this is no ordinary hulk, but the remains of the Swedish deep space cruiser Carolus Rex, lost on a mission a long time ago...

(Actually, it was lost all of four times during a week in October 1999, when a decommissioned Russian submarine played host in a LARP as the proud but doomed Swedish spaceship of the same name. The LARP was played four times during one week, with a new crew each time. I played "rear torpedo chief Wilhelmsson" during game 1, and ran the kitchen during game 3. There will be a few more of these little touches all across the hulk pieces.)

@Hammers: It's called Stone Cast Plaster and is sold in 1 or 5 kg bags by Panduro at 219 SEK for the 5 kg bag. Really good stuff, decently hard, easy to work with. If your local Panduro shop doesn't carry it you should be able order it. Avoid the regular hobby plaster, called Alabaster-something.

@Hubbabubba: You asked for more pictures - I'm happy to oblige!

I am immensely proud to have such a old school bonafide dweeb in our Swedish midst!  lol

I've always had the feeling that casting/assembling/painting Hirst wasn't worth the effort, and this after watching folks at the store struggle with casts; then I see something like this!  :o

By the way, the Galactic Knights matts are fairly stiff; not as likely to 'depress' should the tables gap a bit. Lexan would be better, but I'm not aware of any available currently.

Now, think about more than a single level; I saw it done at a game con decades ago. Crazy.

Looks great, I've been following your threads on the Hirst forums. Very well done with some imaginative combinations.

I nearly have my 3D low wall Hulk done, just a few final touches and then to paint the figures. A year-and-a-half project  o_o
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Getting off on a tangent here... A few images from the Carolus Rex larp mentioned above until it's time for the regularly scheduled program!

The engineers:

A couple of the officers - uniforms were a weird mix of regular army uniforms and 18th century hats for the top officers:

The ship's political officer:

The entire crew of the starship Carolus Rex... eh, old Russian sub... oh, well... Me at the extreme right:
