My First Pig Iron System Trooper
« on: September 11, 2011, 10:12:28 AM »
A package of Pig Iron system troopers arrived on Friday. It's been awhile since I was this excited to paint a new miniature. I finished this guy up yesterday.

System Trooper 2

All of the figures I received were nice crips castings, with almost no flash or mold lines. As you can see, I also got some extra heads as I perfer the more Halo-esque style. I think it is very important when painting these guys to have a heavy contrast between the armour colour and the colour of the fatigues underneath, otherwise you are going to lose a lot of that great detail.

System Trooper 1

It took me about two hours to paint him up, once he was based and primed.

System Trooper 3

As you can gather, I'm a bit of a basing minimalist. This guy is mounted on a 5 Euro cent. Most of the system troopers will fit on this coin, though there are few with wider stances who will not.

System Trooper 4

If you are looking for some Space Heavies, you can hardly go wrong with these guys!

Not bad at all, my only advice would be to thin your paints a touch and even though granted that Si's casting's are reasonable mould line free, there are still a few that you can easily remove with some wet and dry paper.

Thanks for sharing.

Very nice! Still not convinced by the 'fire-standing-on-one-leg' pose, but a really nice paintjob.
