Hi Ged,

I can't speak for the gents, but naturally you have the Osprey an another book I recommend:

"A Photo History of the Mexican Revolution 1910-1920." Written and edited by Michael Gunby. Pages of fantastic photos that would be a designers treat.

If you are looking at the US Intervention at some point may I suggest a very junior Patton with his model T Fords. I gave a speech many years ago on General patton and his exploits/tactics in Mexico using this modern transport for its time.

Interesting period and well done for this venture.

Cheers,

Helen

Best wishes,
Helen

Wow and thankyou! Great news. Naturally I'd like some US interventionists for 1916 and if it isn't too much' some Mexican naval cadets for Veracruz.

I´ll second that. Old Glory and Brigade cover the revolution pretty well but there are a few gaps. The whole 1914 Veracruz affair is an interesting drama including the mentioned cadets, armed prison inmates, armed militia and Mexican policemen  ;D

Ged,

Just replied over on another thread.

Don't forget about police.  Sometimes with pistols, sometimes armed with rifles for their, less than effective, participation in major battles.  Then there's Indians.  Sometimes scouts, but the Yaqui Indians were formed into actual infantry battalions.  Oh, and at one point Obregon had his Yaqui inf. strip down to loin cloths and simulate Indian War Dances to intimidate a Federale garrison.  Then Obregon formed up 'Red Worker Battalions' from Mexico City.  And I don't think anyone does Villistas hurling dynamite.

I'm a bit enthusiastic on the subject.

Here's a link to The Bengal Club and some possibly inspirational photos.

Ged,

And don't forget the best book I've ever read on La Gran Revolucion.  Here's the entry from The Bengal Club Book List.

Villa and Zapata; a History of the Mexican Revolution
(Frank McLynn)
The best book on the subject that the club has discovered so far. McLynn doesn't restrain himself in the use of adjectives for the larger than life players in this enormous upheaval, and yet his description of General Huerta as, "A villain of Elizabethan proportions" is completely accurate.

I'd like to see Fatty Arbuckle in a pie duel with Pancho Villa, it'd make a great vignette  lol
