Very nice collection of minis - lots of different races will produce a nice mixture of paint palettes to experiment with. I like the way you have themed the Celtos warriors in green with that particular rune. If all the others are made into warbands in the same way, this will be a wonderful project. Good luck and keep possting your progress.

thanks that's my aim. I want to avoid the typical fantasy racistic hatred thing and be able to mix and match races according to each ones personal goals (and the rule of cool). The aim is to produce several warbands for use with Skulldred.

Been a little busy over the past week as my family have been visiting, but yesterday I got together with a good friend Torben and got a couple of minis painted:

A hero for the earlier warband, his shield needs finishing before gluing on, but I though I'd show him off now.

This is my first large scale attempt at NMM armour, don't think it's too bad, but my white seems a little 'clumpy' which seems to disturb the texture and seems more noticable than with other colours.

They were sat on the table this morning, when my two year old son found them and decided that the hero needed to take a ride with Postman Pat, at least it shows an early interest in miniatures!

And thanks to manic_miner who told me that a guy was selling some of the Harlequin mounted goblins that I had on the first page - five of them are now on their way to me in the post.

This is probably the cheapest table I've ever done, in all it cost the roughly 150kr (≈£15) for the insulation foam base and the nails. The insultation foam base was painted brown mixed up from random leftovers, then coated in PVA glue and dried and minced beech tree leaves glued on that I collected in my local woods, holes were then punched in and short straws inserted. The trees were made from branches collected in the same wood, cut to roughly 6" long and a nail put in the end. The nail then fits into a straw lined hole in the baseboard.

The idea was to try to create that woodland like effect were tree trunks are the main cover and block line of sight; a little like this:

Though, I left the tops/foliage off, well, as they'd only get in the way!

Here you can see the tops of the trunks. I intend to paint the tops black when I get a chance to make it look neater.

That's looking awesome.

I would give the leaves a really good spray with matte spray varnish- ( so much it glistens until dry) to keep leaf mould off. You loose a bit of that amazing woody smell you get though!

I read a great article on doing trees for a swamp board a while back that blended the trees down into the ground using aves epoxy to make the roots, then textured it with a rough but if cloth (like hessian or cheese cloth). I tried it with magic sculpt and it worked really well. I also found I could make great roots, grass and creepers using Jute string and glue.

Can't wait to see some battle reports photographed on this board!
