Old School Eldar
« on: September 28, 2011, 04:09:38 AM »
I needed to take a day off from painting all of those greenskins, so I decided to grab an Eldar and put some love on him just for fun. Tried my hand at hazing and blending for the first time. Tell me how I did!     Thought it turned out quite nice. Now all he needs are some wings and he will be ready for action! :)

The blue looks really rich and good, though I think the green could maybe use another highlight. Otehrwise nice work, where are the wings? :)
Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly

Very nice, but the edges of the base need some love too! The colour scheme reminds me of my dwarf army which was also painted in blue and green 8)

After not being able to paint for a bit, I finally found time to work some more. So here are some more shots, with another eldar almost done, and two more swooping hawks on the way! :) Comment on quality, tips, etc. please. Thanks!

Apart from the bases (as already mentioned), you have a good quality of tabletop standard going on there and the colours and highlights are nice and tidy.

The guy in the last pic (with the helmet plume) is the Exarch (leader) for the squad and he should be the one with the big wings (rather than the basic trooper that has them at the moment)...the larger wings are there to explain the greater weight of the Exarch's armour and also to help explain his extra powers.

If you didn't know, these are Swooping Hawks :) .

It is nice to see old-school painting on older minis as well...keep up the good work :)

This.

Also, for my taste the metallic silver color is not working. Since the Eldar craft all their materials from wraithbone and other psycho-plastics, the metal seems out of place to me. I would suggest a white or cream color instead.

Still, very nice painting!

Very nicely done, just remember to go back and detail ALL the spiritstones and gems on their armour...there are quite a few that are easily missed! Loads of good gem shading how to's out there, I'd go red for some contrast.

Cheers

Don't forget to paint your bases, gravel unpainted lots just that and destroys the imagery of the mini and makes it look like a acaled figure if you know what i mean.

All nice so far though, more please! :)
