OK,

Ordered ten kolony troopers from Pig iron, greatcoat US mecha-marines.

Have two Kryomek Striders, using those as scout Panzerwalkers.

Several mutant chronicles peaked gasmasked heads for the panzer crew.

Should be enough to be geting on with! ;)

Great stuff, those Pig Iron figures are really good, especially with the separate head idea. I have two squads of the heavy infantry for my future wars games and they paint up really well. :)

I have been tempted from months to order some squads of those greatcoat troopers. Now that Paypal is available I am tempted again...

Could you tell us about the cast quality and maybe post some pics of them near other manufacturers figs to compare sizes?

Thanks!

Twh cast quality is excellent, hardly any mould lines and no damaged figures. The are a fraction shorter than the Copplestone figures, but not noticeably different. I will try and post a picture, but it will not be until the weekend.

Would the heads work on 28mm WWII figures or are they too big?  :?:

Other thoughts:

Warmachine Cryx scrap thralls: project X engineered soldat

GW Steel legion, (got a load of this in a box, 30 troops + command including the commissair and vader captain).

Void/urban mammoth Viridian Colonial shock marines as uber soldat (if they're still available that is, emailed UM as not on their website currently).

The list goes on!

Update:

Pig Iron Kolony received last week, found my kryomek walkers last night. Ordered a load of SOTR today from the lovely Wendy at Westwind, (here by known as Westwindy Wendy!) hopefully be here early next week.

Will dig out steel legion at the weekend and the E4M power armoured guys and get all ready for the big Christmas paint up!

Right, received said kolony troopers and I've got a problem, those helmets...thought they'd be great for modern/future us marines, they look very 'kraut cap' in respect to WWWII. I don't think I can get away with using them as US heads which is a great shame. I have some US marine SOTR heads on their way to me just wanted to acutally get on with something.

My other problem is I'll now have a very one sided stack to start with:

Artizan nachtjaeger squad
GW steel legion (about 30+ 4 hv teams).
WW mecha grenadiers
BAM late war germans
and the kolony guys
That's a lot of germans!

NJ can be special forces no problems there
steel legion: waffen ss elite mecha
mecha grenadiers ???
Kolony: ????

help???

;)

To me Steel Legion always screamed SF Fallschirmjager. Must be the helmets...

Aren't modern day US helmets based on the German Stahlhelm pattern anyway?

Also, the stahlhelm wasn't exclusive to Germany during WW2.
The Finns, Hungarians, Chinese wore them too. There were probably others.

Yup that was my point modern day rather than WWWII.

Well if they do end up as germans I suppose its not too bad, I'll see how the other heads look when they turn up. Re steel legion, I was thinking about paratroopers earlier today good call.

So looks like an axis heavy collection then!
